View Full Version : how to get rid of hard crease after mirror

half of a symetrical model is done, now you want to mirror copy it, ok, now u combine them, then you want to merge the edges, ok you do so, but after the model have become a single object there are hard edges or creases at places where you merges the 2 symetrical peices. how can one get rid of those creases? make them tangential continious... (i.e. one smooth interpolation from one half of surface to the other).

If your using Maya select all the edges you merged and - Edit Polygons > Normals > Soften/Harden. - click All Soft(180) The edges should run smooth now. If not then you can try 'Set to Face' in the same menu option on the surrounding faces.

try to duplicate first, then merge them smooth.
if want to keep ur model low poly, then sigme just gave u the answere.
