View Full Version : UV modelling an eye

Heey all
This is one of my first posts here on CGTalk, so hello everyone.
I just begun my first modelling in maya, because of my study, and we have begun creating our first character, and I have decided to create a goblin called "Ludvig Von Stickelheimer"

Okay, the last lecture we had, we learned about UV mapping (To put texture on your character)

As a beginning, i tried to UV map eyes on my goblin, with two eyes I found on google, turned them into a PSD file, and imported into maya.

First of all, i found it VERY hard to map the eyes, because it's spheres I am trying to map on.
When I tried too map the eyes on, i noticed missing texture on top of the eye.

I have a few questions - Is what I am doing correct? Is this the correct way to UV map, or do I have to put all textures on the same PSD file, to finish UV mapping my entire character? ( ( ( (

Is there an easier way to UV map the eye?
Take in mind, this is my very first modelling, and UV mapping etc, so if possibel try to explain it in newbie terms.

I really hope any out there can help me
