Fellow artists- I have not posted here in while but still peruse the wonderful work on display on a fairly regular basis. I have come here to offer to you a short animated film 'Decampment' based on a poem written by my brother Travis Mossotti who is currently teaching at the University of California Santa Cruz. I have worked as a CG artist for features and animation for about 6 years and in January of 2010 I decided to take some time to build a short film of my own. The film presented a number of difficult parameters when translating the poem into a new medium including: finding a proper visual temperament matching the poem's somewhat serious theme, pacing the visual stimuli as not to distract the viewer too far from the words being spoken (which are where this piece's power lay) and developing a treatment that allows the audience to truly engage the main character and associate the emotions he has tucked so dearly inside him.

This film is viewable in both standard defintion (720x480) here:

and in HD (1280x720) here:

Please note the HD playback is massive. Most of you are surely capable of viewing the high definition version, but be sure to allow the film to load by pausing the player depending on your internet connection.

If you enjoy the film please join the 'Decampment' facebook page and 'like' it to show your support.
