Hey there..
What a hot topic!
This is our first fxWar and we are excited and curious how far we can get…

We've spent the last 2 days in researching, writing a script and sketching storyboards…
The next important step will be Camera-Work, to set up the whole scene, and than there
will be a Previz in the next few days, to show our ideas in detail.

I've started recently with the modeling of the british pilot, and Martin is working on the
environment, especially on the dam.

it's pretty quiet here.. :wavey:
anyway.. we're working hard on the previz at the moment, but i haven't anything to show right now.

apart from that, we're doing some texturework and overall look-development:

it's pretty quiet here.. :wavey:

Don't worry, it might be quiet but we are watching expectantly :) all looking good so far, how do you plan to light it?
Look forward to next update!

yaay, good to know that somebody's watching ;)
so in terms of lighting.. we want to stay as near as possible to the historical background (night shot) but with an artistic touch - so we are trying to achieve some kind of moonlight mood.

we're still trying to figure out how to do it, but i think we will go with a colored directional light and some image based lighting with the help of an hdri with a corresponding color palette. And of course some additional key and fill-lights.
actually.. we hope that this will do the trick - keep your fingers crossed for us
any other suggestions on this one?!

Hey again..
We were a bit busy over the weekend, but we still make a little progress.
Tomorrow we will show in any case the previz.. yeah.. or perhaps on Wednesday ;) I's almost done :wip:

until then a few pictures..

So here is the first version of our Animatic.
It's still in development, but you'll get the idea.

It runs about one minute and there's a lot of content in it.
So we really don't know how far we can get, but hey.. lets give it a try

ok everyone.. we're pretty busy with other stuff atm, but martin is making good progress with the modeling/rigging of the antiaircraft gun, the lancaster and the truck, while i'm taking care of the truck-animation.

the new renders look great, do you have a brighter render of the lancaster? it's really dark, but it looks very good indeed!!
