How do IES lights work? It reminds me a lot of the flashlight in Doom 3 or Alan Wake.

To me, it looks a bit like an HDR light mask applied to an omni. Is it really mathematically calculating every ray's falloff and spread? That seems incredibly complex.

pretty sure it's just a 2d respesetation of light fall off. Dont think it's that hardcore (but im happy to be proved wrong).
