- The speed modelling challenges are open to everybody.
- In every challenge you will get a list of items. Pick one and try to model it as fast as possible. If you want, you can do all of them.
- Do not exceed the time limit of the challenge. If you're out of time and still haven't finished, post the unfinished model.
- If you finish before the time limit, spend the remaining time on refining and adding details to your model.
- Focus on modelling. Shading, lightning and "proper" rendering are optional (and thus not limited by time).
- Take as much time for reference hunting as you need.
- When posting your model make sure you post a wireframe of your model. (try to do more then one view of the model).
- You can do any challenge you want. The challenges are not closed when the SMC passes. If you fancy an older challenge, do that.
- For the concept items you have to create your own designs. If possible post the design images as well.

Items (2h time limit)

- chocolate chip cookies,
- deodorant,
- oil pump,
- a rose,
- swordfish,
- Big Ben,
- carousel,
- bear,
- battering ram,
- firetruck.

Theme "Steampunk" (3h time limit)

- watch,
- glasses,
- gun,
- robot,
- airship.

Did the deodorant can. Kind of silly that it took me about an hour on such a small thing. I need more focus when I'm working. Anyway, I'll try something else soon. Maybe something organic like the swordfish,

Also, does anyone know a way I can render wires without losing lines like this?

Use a push modifier with a low value (ex:0,2) on your wireframe model... Just to be sure your wireframe model is always at least a little bit larger than your clay model.

I got real hooked on playing with detail since the concept ship we did in the other thread, have actually been playing around with steam engines details up til now. ....Some different carriages and such, can be seen in my portfolio.
This steam punk theme is awesome, thanks for this MSus.

Started to play around with the watch today, 1 hour this far so it is still very rough. :)

Had a go at the Swordfish, it's far from great and probably not that good but it is mt first proper attempt at something organic and I'm pleased with it. Didn't get to finish it, but oh well.

Oh maan, finally got some time on my hands to finish the steam watch. Very rough concept I guess but it was fun.
2 hours effective modeling, steam watch. Spent a couple of hours setting up materials and a decent composition.
Haha that's why the chain is bending the laws of gravity....

I am thinking about doing them all, would be a sweet collection for my model section at my site. Still need to polish them for that though, think it would be good to have them all in a rough state at first though.
Do you have any ideas for the next concept modeling?

I don't know actually. I've been a bit busy, but I'll post the new challenges today.
I'll probably use the suit concept you posted in the suggestion thread. Will see if google has any suggestion for a concept image :)
