View Full Version : 3ds max: Veins underneath a surface..

09 September 2003, 06:29 AM
I did a quick google search on this but couldnt find exactly what I was looking for..

In my scene I have these "organic pillars" - and am trying to add veins growing up from the bottom..tapering as they get higher up the pillar.
I didnt want to just paint them onto the material cause I want the veins to be very..prominent and visibly protrude from the mesh (I'm also trying to do this scene using only procedural maps).
Now..I have some ideas for going about this - does chamfering edges sound good?

I just wanted to ask you guys if you had any suggestions..heh, or possibly experience with something like this.

Thanks. :)
