09 September 2003, 10:00 PM
started this afternoon modeling this
and i still have to do the main body
and add alot of little things all over it
but here is a render of where it is now

09 September 2003, 02:16 AM
here is an update

09 September 2003, 03:25 AM
it puts me in mind of the andromeda asscendant

perhaps its baby brother =)

was that your inspiration or just coincedence?

anyway looks good - hope see it finished

09 September 2003, 03:34 AM
yep, you are right i have a pic of the ascendant
and i was looking at for ideas to get me started
with the general body shape

but i am not making it, this one will more or less
be just my random modeling kind of as i have
seen it said before on the flow

more updates later tonight when i get more done

09 September 2003, 11:22 AM
here is an update

i still need to do something different with the gun
thing on the front

but the big parts are almost done now on to
adding all of the small detail parts

09 September 2003, 05:05 PM
and yet more details added

09 September 2003, 09:19 PM
good start post a wire

09 September 2003, 10:18 PM
Post a wire?!?!?!

09 September 2003, 01:02 AM
definatly a commonwealth high guard ship perhaps a battlecrusier

very cool though

09 September 2003, 01:31 AM
oh yes

here is a wire

09 September 2003, 02:41 AM
I'm having trouble sensing the scale. Is this a one-man fighter or something a mile long?

09 September 2003, 09:40 AM
i agree with the above post. i think it is because the cockpit would indicate a very large scale ship but the way the gun cage is and the guns would indicate a fast moving maneuverable small ship.

09 September 2003, 09:46 AM
hey guys

yeah it started out being a very large ship
but as i moved along it started looking more
like a 2 or 4 person fighter ship

and as it is not done yet the details
i am working on now should bring everything
to scale

if any of you can see something that i should add
plz tell me

more updates later today

At your first pics, I thought it was really too soft for a space ship. Now that you have added all the details, I think it is just great :applause:
I'd love to see what's the rear is looking like, you know the fuse or whatever...

Just to speak, and because it's rendering for me atm, Why not a scene of the space ship going back home after a crude battle, with one wing half ripped so that we can see the sub structure...

Was just to speak,

Nice thing

09 September 2003, 10:02 AM
hey facial deluxe

as of right now there is just a flat box
in the rear i have not gotten to that part yet
but that is what i am doing right now
so later on it will be posted

09 September 2003, 02:05 PM

here is the start of the back end
and as allways more details to add

09 September 2003, 04:42 PM
i could not stop myself:rolleyes:
had to make a scene with stars
and stuff

but now back to modeling................

09 September 2003, 10:41 AM

added more to the back and a gun thing under it
still more to do

Me likes :) very organic skeleton on the rear

09 September 2003, 01:15 PM
Wooowwwwwww

I'd like to see the creatures which pilot such a wonderful ship

09 September 2003, 03:30 PM
thanks guys,

this is a close shot of the gun

i need to fix some spots on that you can start
to see some sharp points

10 October 2003, 07:16 PM
some more parts added

panels on the main section
and i am going through and adding
the small wires where ever i think it
needs some

10 October 2003, 12:46 AM
This is just beautiful. Amazing work for the time span. Amazing work, period.

10 October 2003, 11:01 AM
thanks for your comments

more stuff added

i changed the way i render it
so the different parts could show up better
this one is abit darker than i wanted but it

i came up with some new ideas for the
body details now it is alittle less organic
looking but i will try to get some of that back

10 October 2003, 03:39 PM
new spine looking part
more work on the panels

i'm not going to make alot of
wires because i don't think it
will fit in with the way it looks now

i'm open to any of your ideas

10 October 2003, 04:10 PM
This is a pretty interesting thread. I'm familier with the series, but i've noticed (esp. with that cage in the back of the ship) that it definatly looks like its taking a turn towards a more organic hybrid. interesting stuff, i'll be watching this one...

10 October 2003, 10:26 PM
well i am back
spent the weekend in louisville, kentucky
now back to working on this

here are some new updates

i don't like the coil kinda part around the fan
so i'm going to change that

front logo

10 October 2003, 12:18 AM

10 October 2003, 02:53 AM
Can you show that view of the front logo in wireframe?

How is it carved into the surface if this is not frozen or non-sub-d to use a boolean?

10 October 2003, 03:13 AM
This is coming along nicely. Like the logo. Adds even more realism to the model.

10 October 2003, 10:06 AM
here are the two logos

front and side, they were made in
adobe illustrator and saved as an eps
file then taken into lw
they are the only things that are not subpatch
and they don't connect to the body

10 October 2003, 01:51 PM
after alot of remodeling i have started
the inside

10 October 2003, 02:31 PM
Lovely Work,
May I ask, did you draw out the design before starting or is it a work that 'evolves' as you come up with ideas?

Just interested in how you decide the structure and flow of the subpatches.
BTW How long has it taken you so far of actual modelling time?

Looking really nice.

10 October 2003, 03:39 PM
i didn't do any preplaning stuff
i just started with what is in the very first
post then added more as i went along

i started a week ago and got alot done
the first two days
then spent maybe 4 hrs. a day off and on
i didn't do any work on it fri. sat. sun.
