started this afternoon modeling this
and i still have to do the main body
and add alot of little things all over it
but here is a render of where it is now

perhaps its baby brother =)

yep, you are right i have a pic of the ascendant
and i was looking at for ideas to get me started
with the general body shape

but i am not making it, this one will more or less
be just my random modeling kind of as i have
seen it said before on the flow

thing on the front

but the big parts are almost done now on to
adding all of the small detail parts

I'm having trouble sensing the scale. Is this a one-man fighter or something a mile long?

i agree with the above post. i think it is because the cockpit would indicate a very large scale ship but the way the gun cage is and the guns would indicate a fast moving maneuverable small ship.

hey guys

yeah it started out being a very large ship
but as i moved along it started looking more
like a 2 or 4 person fighter ship

and as it is not done yet the details
i am working on now should bring everything
to scale

if any of you can see something that i should add
plz tell me

At your first pics, I thought it was really too soft for a space ship. Now that you have added all the details, I think it is just great :applause:
I'd love to see what's the rear is looking like, you know the fuse or whatever...

Just to speak, and because it's rendering for me atm, Why not a scene of the space ship going back home after a crude battle, with one wing half ripped so that we can see the sub structure...

in the rear i have not gotten to that part yet
but that is what i am doing right now
so later on it will be posted

more stuff added

i changed the way i render it
so the different parts could show up better
this one is abit darker than i wanted but it

i came up with some new ideas for the
body details now it is alittle less organic
looking but i will try to get some of that back

This is a pretty interesting thread. I'm familier with the series, but i've noticed (esp. with that cage in the back of the ship) that it definatly looks like its taking a turn towards a more organic hybrid. interesting stuff, i'll be watching this one...

spent the weekend in louisville, kentucky
now back to working on this

Can you show that view of the front logo in wireframe?

How is it carved into the surface if this is not frozen or non-sub-d to use a boolean?

This is coming along nicely. Like the logo. Adds even more realism to the model.

here are the two logos

front and side, they were made in
adobe illustrator and saved as an eps
file then taken into lw
they are the only things that are not subpatch
and they don't connect to the body

May I ask, did you draw out the design before starting or is it a work that 'evolves' as you come up with ideas?

Just interested in how you decide the structure and flow of the subpatches.
BTW How long has it taken you so far of actual modelling time?

i didn't do any preplaning stuff
i just started with what is in the very first
post then added more as i went along

i started a week ago and got alot done
the first two days
then spent maybe 4 hrs. a day off and on
i didn't do any work on it fri. sat. sun.
