View Full Version : texture baking with V-Ray and render layer bug

can someone else with V-Ray for Maya test this out. I am getting weird bugs with texture baking in my scene since it has render layers. If I try and bake the object on another non-Master layer, nothing is output and if I do it on the master layer, I get these weird glitches like it's doing all layers on top of each other:

I figured out it. It's part bug and part stupidity on my part. You do have to be on the masterLayer to bake the texture but the glitches were overlapping UVs.

btw, didn't know the frambuffer came in qt flavour - hope it comes to windows and linux.

I think the Windows one is probably using the previous code and the Mac and Linux are Qt based. dunno

ok - I narrowed down the problem. It's not with render layers. It's with displacement maps/subdivisions. I had a displacement map on the render layer bake object and not one on the master layer. Any object with a V-Ray subdivision or displacement map on it will fail to bake. I'll send Chaos Group an email
