is there an easy way. to bake an area shadow light (or even a portal light) without baking it to every texture?
nothing is moving in the scene and the area shadow is the longest to render ..

If your using a renderman based renderer, its pretty easy to bake to a point cloud. Be nice if people actually posted what renderer they where using, but i'm never going to win that battle.

Other wise, you can get similar results to area light shadows using directional occlusion, or maybe you do a cheaty blury shadow map.
