View Full Version : Controling displacement with color per vertex

07 July 2010, 01:02 AM
I've been searching for a while now. Does anyone of you know how it would be possible to control the displacement of a geometry through it's color per vertex with direct connections? I've been trying with a mentalrayVertexColors node but without any success.

Thanks in advance !

Do you mean to translate each vertex in the direction of a vector specified by the colorPerVertex?

mduvekot: Not exactly. I'm doing standard displacement (the geometry is subdivided and displaced according to a map or procedural texture) and I want to be able to multiply that map by the color per vertex of the mesh without baking it, but connecting it directly. So if I paint an area white, the displacement will be stronger and if I paint it black, it's gonna be deeper when rendered.

Please feel free to ask if you need more details, thanks !
