View Full Version : Create Polygon, strange smoothing groups result

I am not sure if the issue here is smoothing groups exactly, but thats what it appears to be to me. I cleared the smoothing group and assigned it a new one, yet the problem persists. The circle that the handle rests in was created using shape merge if that is of any help.

You have to create supporting edges. The front face of your large main object is just an ngon with who knows how many edges, there also seems to be a hole in this large ngon with again 20 edges or whatever. Maybe the front face is not completely planar, so this large front ngon is folded where this weird shading is happening.

Also check if the normals of the surface are oriented correctly.

The problem is that the front and top Polygons are in the same Smoothing Group so the Vertex normals are blending over the 90 angle, which creates that bad shading. Put big NGon on the front into a new SG and your set.
