View Full Version : Skinny Dude

Hello, this is my first post in a WIP forum here. I've been doing 3d as a hobby for nearly a decade now, but I've always avoided doing realistic humans and creatures because it was too damn hard. So I've decided to create a WIP here to help me improve this aspect of modeling.
This current project is a just a generic naked guy. I also want to get more comfortable with ZBrush so I'm using that to sculpt a very simple base mesh I created in another app. As you can see, it could do with a lot of work. I've been concentrating on the torso so far and I've done a bit on the legs. I haven't touched the arms yet, not the head.
So yeah... I'd really appreciate any help you can offer with this.

Hey Robert,... looks good.
Between the knee and ankle pic 2 from behind. Draw a line with your eye and push the foot more away from the centre in that view. A handy little trick is to save the tool out under another name and relax and have fun with the copy. Relax your shoulders, have a beer and have fun with it. Look for big shapes. Let yourself go!

Hello, back again.
It looks like I forgot to save the last half hour or so of work I did last night on the legs, but no harm - by redoing them I'll be practasing more. I actually re-sculpted the leg twice today, this is the second (and better) version.
Kanga, thanks for the suggestions. I'm pretty sure the feet here are further away from the center (can't tell fur sure because I've lost the previous version), but as they are they line up perfectly with the reference image planes. I also need to define the ankles more, which I'm finding particularly hard.

I did a bit more tweaking on the legs and torso, but this morning I concentrated on making a start on the head. It's by far the most complex part of the model yet. Areas like the eyelids/eyebags, corners of the nose and corners of the mouth are really frazzling me. In fact, the entire head is!
So anyway, this is what I have right now. It looks very dodgy. Any critiques or advice would be totally awesome!
