(http://assets.cgsociety.org/nvart/123301_1277944256/1024bound)I admired Syd Mead's big machines, structures and scenarios and I centered my design on 3 big wheels as the model on the main banner. I used Actually 4 wheels as the landing platform on the roof is based on a circle too. I hope you enjoyed as much as I did this project and the whole competition. Good luck to everyone.
In this scene the NOMAD operation is placed on a recently devastated volcanic island to help remove destroyed building structures, recover and process buried very expensive materials and possible working technology. The cargo plane is taking off, an explorer vehicle descended from the storage structure and 3 scientist are searching valuable technology. Two laser beens are used to analyze the terrain.
The NOMAD is a superstructure mobile bridge and a nuclear powered source, a high capacity autonomous center and road builder head that could operate on very remote and hostile or devastated areas for very long periods of time and constant work. It gets transported by water inside a ferry with an expandable landing ramp and deployed directly to the cost line where the conditions are favorable. A cargo jet airplane lands on the top platform with 3 vertical landing propulsion reactors and a powerful robotic arm on the platform moves, adjust and grabs the front landing gear to help position the plane on turbulent atmospheric conditions. A man on the top cabin could stop or abort the landing or take off process. Different cranes, attached to the top platform could be used to lift and descend heavy structures. The belly is a highly extensible storage structure that could move up and down but also could open or descend to land different platforms for vehicles, structures or machinery access. The wheel in the middle is an observation center and also a port to connect 2 or more structures. This is also the entry door when the NOMAD is on the general command facility.
