Been following the challenge for awhile now. Whipped up a pirate of my own to see if I was going to make the deadline. Guess I might just make it so here I go.

Hmm no one replied, ok I'll give you a few crits here :)

- He's an interesting character to say the least, the proprotions are whacked and that a requirement :)

- the hands will need work, but the idea of having the sword as a nail dunno about that one :) if you think practically he would have a ver hard time doing even the simplist of tasks, ie tipping his hat ;)

- is he a robot? cause the head looks to be organic, and if he's a robot well umm all his limbs are Prosthetic :D

- also you have to make him pirate themed, any ideas on how you're going to handle this and make him friendly looking?

concentrate on function and then form :) keep going

Thx for the comment Lildragon :)

A little background:
This is the infamous pirate parrot, roaming space, boarding other peoples bodies. Unfortunatly he screwed up the last body he got so he had to make a pair of legs himself. To bad he sucks when it comes to cybernetic engineering.

Being a parrot he has no choice but to look friendly. He will look a little more pirate-like in my next update later tonight, I hope. :D

ehehe good start, I,m sure he is gonna be funny at the end... "infamous pirate parrot" heheh

A small update. Worked on his arms and hands plus added a hat. :)
Started to work on his legs but they will have to wait until tomorrow.

For your amusement I applied some procedural textures. :D

hahahah, i like that.,, cool exaggeration...

I just gotta say... This model gives me the chuckles every time I see it... I love it!!!

Does the parrot sit there in the host body, like in a drivers seat, or is the parrot mutated or something so that it's lower body looks like that?

Actually I didn't think about it much. I just went for something that looked like a parrothead attached to a body. But when I read your comment I got some new ideas. When I'm done with what I'm working on right now I will start to work on that :)

funny model, I like the parrot head with the pirate hat and the bird feet in stead of normal feet.

maybe you should consider to make the right foot also huge to be in balance with the huge left hand.

You absolutely have to put a midget on his shoulder...

I really like the idea!

Finally time for a small update. Been far to occupied with school the last few days. :P

Captain P. Parrot took some time off from being a pirate to build himself a new set of legs. Next time he will build himself a shiny pair of feet aswell.

Let's just hope he can find some paint in the future.

heh thats really cool! I love the model and the size exagerration :)

01 January 2002, 06:42 PM
Thanks for the comments ppl :D

I'm working on another update. Propably later tonight. :p

Quick update just to keep me busy.

Captain Parrot will probably get a pair of wings if he can find a pair that fits.

He will also need something to keep him occupied when he's all alone at sea. So I better get him something to play with. Otherwise he will get cranky. And that's no pretty sight.

Came along nicely... great work.

Im gonna have nightmares about this thing.

Thx guys :)
I'm currently trying to put some more details in the mesh since it's fairly lowpoly at the moment. Not sure if I will have much more time to work on him before the deadline. And after seing all the other pirates I can't believe I even accepted this challenge. :)

But I think it's turning out ok anyway. Might even be the first character I ever finish :)

Fat&ugly: Give me your adress so I can tell Captain P. Parrot which bed he should be under tonight :D

Time for a small update. Haven't had time to work with him for the past few days but here are some improvements atleast.

Added a pair of wings and gave him something to play with. I've also been tweaking his right arm and shoulder a bit. Plus adding some stuff to his back.

01 January 2002, 03:13 PM
Youve got to animate him trying to fly with those wings!!!!!!!!

01 January 2002, 04:17 PM
I won't have time to rig him before the deadline but I'll try to animate him later. Might take some time thou since i've never really done it before :)
Have to work fast now. Guess schoolwork just have to wait :D

Just wanted to post the final images since all of them didn't get posted in the final gallery.

This challenge has been very entertaining. I hope the next will be equally entertaining. And I'm sure it will :D
