View Full Version : miDefaultOptions Node not created until selected

This is a 2011 issue. I was wondering if there is any MEL procedure for invoking the quality tab in the render globals so that the miDefaultOptions node will be created so I can set things like motionBlur and Shutter through mel. Currently the commands won't work until I open the renderGlobals window and select the quality tab to have the nodes created. Is there any way to duplicate this procedure in MEL without having to physically open the gui and selecting the quality tab?

miCreateDefaultNodes creates the nodes you are looking for. I used this in a couple of scripts to automatically set the renderer and setup the render defaults:

string $renderer = `getAttr defaultRenderGlobals.currentRenderer`;
if ($renderer != "mentalRay"){
setAttr -type "string" defaultRenderGlobals.currentRenderer "mentalRay";
miCreateDefaultNodes; // create the mental ray default nodes
