Hey all, haven't posted in a long while. Working on some simple props and characters in my downtime.

Here is a quadruped robot I'm building. Modeling work is being done in 3DS Max 9, rigging will be done in Maya. 4450 tris...

I started texturing the legs. More soon...

Like the design... the legs are a bit spindly but I guess that's okay.

I can;t shed the feeling you could use some more polys though. The texture seems awfully detailed in accordance with the amount of detailing in the model.

Check your rivets, the shadows are all over the place. I also see that you have chosen(?) to not make the texture more round than the model (all the straights on the legs that indicate roundness but are not) I find it always difficult to choose whether to make the texture just as round as the low poly model (which is a multi angle) or just as round as you are trying to convey with less detail (really as it should be)

Looking forward to the rest but I would like to recommend to first do broad strokes of colour to indicate materials on the model and then work in the details. Since I gather you aren't working from a concept it is best to lay out basics before putting the hard work and finding you actually wanted more blue in there once you see it all together.
