View Full Version : mip_matteshadow and render passes

I am rendering an animation in maya 2009 where I want to render the characters seperate to the background. To render the characters I was going to apply a matteshadow shader to my backgound geometry to cast and catch shadow. The problem I am having is that when I render the master beauty looks fine with the character casting and receiving shadows from the background, however none of the render pass (diffuse, direct irradiance etc) seem to to show the shadows received on the character. If I use a background shader instead of the matteshadow the shadows turn up fine in the render passes, however the background shader renders self shadowing which I don't want.

Any help would be appreciated.

After a bit more experimenting I found that it works correctly when using mia materials, however I am using standard maya materials.
