View Full Version : Walk cycle in maya 2011

Hey guys I was wondering if I could get some help with mt walk cycle.
So i've made a loop of my character walking and it looks ok..
My problem is how can I take that animation and actually make it walk accross the screen. I tried parenting it to a curv, and then keyfaming the curv while the walk cycle animation rolls but the character deforms or in some cases stops walking and just slides.

It sounds like you got "double transforms" when you parented the whole character to the curve. You need to just parent the animation controls to the curve (not the mesh and any other bits). Often rigs have a global control (sometimes called the "main" or "root" control) and this is what you use to globally position and scale the rig and animation.
