View Full Version : zproject transpose issue

Hi, I'm new to zbrush. I'm trying project (paint) and an image in the background from an image plane onto my model as in this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTh0wSjF71U . I can get the image to paint on ok but the transpose part doesnt seem to work. The image projects directly from beneath my model but I cant offset the projection by using move (next to draw). The zbrush version I'm using is 3.5 r3. I would really appreciate it if someone can help. Thank you..

ok, after a little research I've come across this post here.
I'm finding this a little frustrating as i'm not entirely sure what the work around is. I think the biggest problem I'm facing is i'm a newbie! :cry: If anyone can help me with a texturing workflow that would be great.

I was pretty annoyed when they dropped the ball on that feature. Even though ZBrush is the powerful program that it is, it really is a huge mess. And when they decide to release unfinished sh*t after they have advertised about it (GoZ for example) you wonder if you should ever trust them again. Autodesk does this kind of cr*p all the time. Get you all excited with a press release, and then come the huge disapointment when you find out that what you are recieving isn't even close to be usuable in production.
I beleave it's called lying. I wouldn't mind of these companies released a new version every two years rather than every year. If it meant that the features were well thought out and fully tested and functional.
But they want to release a new version every year. Like the automobile industry. THE NEW MODELS ARE OUT. crash!
you could use zapplink instead... http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/zapplink/
but i would recommend mudbox for texturing...
cause of the "real" texture painting there and the layers...

Thanks oglu. I'll try and use zapplink, hopefully this will at least get me underway. The thing I find frustrating is I spent a while comparing products and I was even looking at getting mudbox. Zbrush is cheaper but seems to have more functionality especially with modeling. Just more of a learning curve, but I think worth it in the end. Now I find that some functionality is missing after I purchase the product I'm quite disappointed. I do admit though, I have a lot to learn and I might be missing something. The other thing is, bring on zbrush 4. Thanks guys.
