I am rendering with maya software with a black surface shader on the mesh. I have one spot light to cast the hair shadow. The light doesn't have cast shadows on. I turned off cast and receive shadows in the mesh settings, but that didn't change anything.
If anyone has any solution, or even an alternative, I would be grateful to hear it. If all else fails, I can just create a polygon mesh in the shape of the hair and use the shadow cast by it instead.
