Hi, I'm working on this female character but something just doesn't feel right. I would like some help with the anatomy face and body.
It's probably because I worked on it for too long that I don't see my own mistakes.

Well her anatomy is simply unrealistic. My advice would be to always model from reference - you don't seem to be doing so here. Modelling directly from reference provides a direct comparison for your model, and as such, acts as the perfect guide.

Thanks Leigh. I did use some reference but apperently not enough. I'll try to find some nice front and back pictures and sculpt straight from those.

Hi Egbert.

One thing that can help is putting a model of a skull under your sculpt, size it and check where it pokes out, and it helps to show where everything is,... exactly. I say exactly because a millimeter left or right makes a lot of difference.

Mostly the model looks pretty good. It only misses some muscle structure underneath. The skull shape isnt quite right I think. Looks a bit pointed on the top and low at the back end in profile. You havent finished the ears I think. The legs are looking a bit loose and even if the feet are covered up you should model them for practice.

If you find you have spent too long on the model try doing some speed modeling in between. Spend about an hour on each study with some reference at your side. I really know what you mean about being too long on one model. When you have done some of those exercises go back to the original and make changes.

You can never have enough reference! :-) Always keep loads of it at hand. And not just images of the person, but also get some good references of human skeletons and muscle systems too. Understanding what goes on under the skin is very important for replicating what happens above it. There's a really, really great book called "Anatomy for the Artist" by Sarah Simblet that has loads of great references like this. I can't recommend this book enough.

I just wanted to add that while the model may not be entirely realistic yet, I find it refreshing that you're trying to create a woman that is, if you know what I mean :) I like that you seem to aim for a more natural looking woman, rather than a stylized, hardbody Lara Croft type who is 1.80 tall, fit and skinny yet somehow mysteriously has huge tits.

Thanks. I'm personally not a fan of the big breasted cg women I like the more natural models. The extremely buff male models are also getting old quickly.
But anyway, I tried the skull method from Chris and this is my result I actually modelled the skull instead of ripping one from turbosquid. I thought it would be good practice.
So what do you think ?? (

Did you use reference planes for the skull? It may be a bit skinny froom the front. You can get them from an old zbrush projection tutorial. The female skull differs a bit from the male one. I use a female version. Here is a projection and sculpt of a male one.
And the blackberry wallpaper to pimp myself to myself daily,... hmmm

I think my biggest problem is that i rush too much and don't take enough time to study the subject that i'm modelling carefully (I wants that awsum models naow P )
