View Full Version : Maya render passes are broken

Doing a simple test I made a torus lit by and single directional light. I then rendered out beauty, diffuse, and spec passes. Theoretically the diffuse and spec when combined should be identical to the beauty (using a plus in Nuke). As you can see below in the attached pics, they do not. The spec on the comped image looks significantly different from the beauty pass from Maya.

Here is the beauty from Maya:

With further experimenting, this looks to be caused by how Nuke is doing the 'plus' operation. Doing an 'add' in After Effects looks fine, as does a 'linear' dodge in Photoshop. Anyone know how to get the same behavior for Nuke?

Solved it. "video color space" needs to be checked on the plus node in Nuke.
Woohoo, my question has now become a tutorial!
