Is there a way to control the fur density with a noise map or gradient? I want a nice falloff, and I cannot seem to get a nice falloff effect with using baldness and length maps.

You can paint maps for many attributes of fur systems. I've allways used baldness and length, the only drawback i found is that i first have to paint the map in maya and then open it with photoshop and repaint it to get good results.
