View Full Version : Flowing Water

Hey Guys,

I am currently trying to make a small animation with a bath and shower. I have been using nparticles and setting up collisions roughly from Duncans area blog however i am not getting the right look.

Below are links to the type of thing i am trying to achieve

Tap Water (http://www.thegreenhead.com/imgs/deep-water-bath-1.jpg)

Tap Water Alternative (http://www.housetohome.co.uk/imageBank/b/Bathwater-expert-advice.jpg)

Showers (http://freshome.com/2008/11/24/experience-a-rain-like-experience-shower/)

As you can see 2 are water flowing from taps. I currently have a nparticle system from a surface running with gravity and a water surface set up as a collision however i want the water to ripple at impact so it would need to penetrate slightly??

The shower i haven't really started but same kinda system i would assume.

Any help would be most appreciated

In terms of rippling water you can create a soft body plane and as the particles collide with the soft body you'll get ripples that way.

Also worth mentioning, if you are considering an upgrade, is that the new surface tension attribute can give you that look.

cool i will have a look at softbodies. I was thinking of using a pond wake but cant seem to attach the nparticles a the collision emitter

Anybody know of a good tutorial for water flowing from a tap?
