Where do we start a wip thread? I just tried to create one in the NVArt-Accelerate section and got an unauthorized access message.

Your wish is my command...

what an incredible competition.. i'm certainly up for giving this a shot..and wow the dudes from mythbusters are in the judging line up, how cool ;).

04-08-2010, 08:14 AM
This may be a silly question ..but can someone have more than one vehicle design(entry) submitted?

04-08-2010, 08:57 AM
great topic!
should we focus on one vehicle design? or can it be a few different, composed in a picture (e.g. race). I mean within one entry, not like in question above ;)

04-08-2010, 11:08 AM
6. Multiple entries are permitted.

Arturro, I don't know why you would want to join them in one entry, you can always make multiple entries for every vehicle and combine them to show in your personal portfolio.

04-08-2010, 12:15 PM
I've never painted any sort of vehicle in my life but what better time to start? See you there, Marley :)

04-08-2010, 01:57 PM
Wow, nice. I've been trying to motivate myself to model a futuristic vehicle that came to my mind some time ago. The deadline is also good for people that have difficulty in creating spare time like me.

04-08-2010, 03:49 PM
Absolutely necessary to take part in :) Good luck to all!

I have two questions

1. Does what matters is just the final image or will the mechanics/working of the vehicle will also be taken into account ( whether it seems plausible that such a vehicle can exist or not)

2. 2D/3D Is there any expectation about the final image being 2D or 3D, or it could be anything, as long as its viable for the contest.

Awesome new contest! I'm a little baffled by having the Mythbusters guys as judges, but whatever. Sounds like fun!

04-08-2010, 10:50 PM
The Mythbusters are builders and special effects guys. I think it makes perfect sense.

04-09-2010, 12:30 AM
I've joined this forum (long time reader though) specifically to enter this challenge. I've always loved Syd Meads work, and cant wait to see what people come up with.

04-09-2010, 02:40 AM
I have not participated in NVart before and it seems different from the Challenges procedures in that no milestones are required and there are no individual-dedicated WIP thread.

In view of the above, do I just post WIP images randomly in the WIP forum and only when my final image is ready do I go to the "Submit your Entry" to upload the final image?

EDIT: Never mind. I should have caught the answers in the FAQs first.

This is very exciting. Sounds like lots of fun.

Go read the rules page. All of it. Then you will know every thing you need to know.

I gotta tell yea.. this one and the dominance war contest really get me excited.

Indeed, an inspiring contest. I love Syd's work, it will be a pleasure to build something in his honor.

Syd is one of my greatest inspiration source ever..
It would be a great honor for him to look at some of my works..

I shall try my best to participate!!

All entries should be original and not a derivative of existing work, including works previously entered in this competition, excepting the case of "in the style of" competitions where the works may be in the style of the artist designated but may not be so close to a particular work to be a clear derivative.

I dont understand this. I have done a vehicle design a year ago and it was never in an competition. I would like to redo that and change a lot of things. So i would not use the same model, just as a ref. Is that allowed?

04-13-2010, 04:15 PM
hey guys...
its d very first time that I am taking part into any such competition into CG Society.
I have some doubts, though many of them just got there answers from the FAQ's, but rest need to be cleared out...
So please help me out with this guys...
1. I am little bit worried about the design. The design should be brand new, or can it resemble any of the Honda's or Audi's or BMW's... ?
2. The only thing that matters is the final output, or should we have to give details about the fuel system, aerodynamics, seating capacity, engine and all... ?

Hi all,
i will like to participate, but i have a small question, cause i saw a bunch of 3D works.
To participate on this Challenge needs to be a 3D Work or could be also a 2D Paint work.

I read also the Rules, but i didnt find something about that.

I will appreciate any information.
Good luck to everyone

04-20-2010, 11:53 AM
2xbo yea it can be either 3d or 2d..there are also a few 2d pieces there aswell, best of luck to you.

04-21-2010, 08:38 AM
Hi LightSovereign. Thnx for the reply. Now is clear and i can post something in 2D.
Enjoy the challenge and good luck also for you.

As long as it's your own work and not previously published it's OK to enter.
