Just having some problems creating custom feather setup for a wooden bird. I've been trying to get a follicle setup with wire deformers bending my feathers into position but I just can't seem to get the right combination of mel to make a single wire deformer for each geometry feather.
Using something like this right now:
wire -li 1 -w $wireC $newFeath;
where $wireC is the hair curve generated by maya while adding the hair system and $newFeath is the feather geometry.
The problem is that this iteratively adds wires to every new feather, so first feather has 1 wire, second has 2, third has 3 and so forth.
I think this must be something to do with the selection (I've tried using -is flag and I get some errors).
Frustrating since I can't seem to decipher the wire documentation enough to make proper sense of it ... or maybe it's just the first day back after a long weekend :D
