how can i make sure of my scene scale is correct for cloth sims, i know it has to be real world scale do i jus do it in feet or meters? thanks

nCloth simulates in meters. But a fast way to check your scene scale is a "drop test". Get an object in the scene that you know it's size. Like a table or human character and simulate a piece of cloth dropping next to it. This let you preview how your nCloth behaves in the scene. If it falls to slowly your scene scale is too big and if it falls to fast your scene scale is too small. Scene scale doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to work. I do this test every time I set up an nCloth solver and it's a great way to check your scene size.

ahh ok, sounds great an simple. so once u know what the deal, do you scale up the characters or do u play with the nucleus space scale

I change the nucleus space scale. This does not, however, scale the values for other nCloth attributes, like stretch resistance or damp. So values that worked fine at a scale of 1.0 need to be adjusted at a scale of 0.01.

Conversion formula to find the correct value for the nucleus Space Scale setting:
Convert to meters, divide by grid units:
R = your object's length in the real world (in cm, m, feet or inches)
M = your object's length in maya units (use the grid, distance nodes to find this)
if R is in cm:
(R * 0.01) / M = Space Scale
if R is in meters:
R / M = Space Scale
if R is in inches:
(R * 0.0254) / M = Space Scale
if R is in feet:
(R * 0.3048) / M = Space Scale

The lift value does not scale with nucleus scale. This will drastically effect how cloth falls. It is very important to check. Even before you edit stretch and damp when your checking your scale values.

I did not know that! Is that in all versions of Maya with ncloth?
