I usually do CG lighting and textures but I'm trying my hand at designing characters from some of my favourite books - the Aubrey - Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian. Great books about a steadfast Royal Navy Captain and his best friend/ship's surgeon. There is a movie based on one of the books

Master and Commander:Far Side of the World

check out for the trailer

My Captain Aubrey is much more of the Saturday morning cartoon type and is a little closer to the character as described in the books than is Russell Crowe (Jack Aubrey is a bit rotund).

Any how, let me know what you think!!!

Hey great job on the chacter it look's sweet. He does resemble disney type chacters. I feel he is familiar in a way.. I'm not sure if I remeber correctly but the captian in The Little Mermaid?

Well, how about on the quarterdeck? As he is drawn, he's definitely an officer and a gentleman.

Seriously, good character design, though not as rotund as you implied.
