View Full Version : click drag select

Does anyone know if there a way to click an object, have it selected, and be able to transform it, all in one stroke? Maya has this feature called click drag select.

I guess it would be sort of like how tweak mode works for components - only this would work for objects.

If you don't mind using hot-keys during your stroke you can sort of do it using sticky keys.

Have two objects in your scene. Pres space bar, be in object selection mode. Select an object, then after releasing hold V but do not release V. LMclick Drag. Let go of mouse. Let go of V.

It's a mouthful but it kind of does what you want. Conversely, you can do the exact opposite, have V selected and released, activating the move transform, and then temporarily use space bar to temporarily interrupt the current move command with a select command. Then once a new object is selected, release space bar to re-enact move. Then use move.

or another thing you could do is.

have a group set up with whatever model you want this to happen on. then select the group and add a transform setup. you will find this in get/property/transform setup.

this is useful when you know what transform you want to be selected on whatever objects. so you can set it to translate local transform with COG selected. so everytime you select that object straigh away it will go int o that mode.

very useful for rigs.

and because its on a group you can add or take away whatever objects you want.

cheers, hope this helps.
