View Full Version : QuadroFX4600 OpenGL issues

First of all, i've already gave a look at Adobe OpenGL troubleshoot page

At my work, i had a workstation that had AE CS4
and a QuadroFX4600 (driver version 182.08),
all running in a Windows XP, SP3, 32-bit.

When i turn on "OpenGL - Interactive" or "OpenGL - Always On"
i experiment a terrible delay: the composition window takes more time to redraw
than if i i turn on "Adaptive Resolution - OpenGL Off".
Multiprocessing is off (Edit/Preferences/Memory & Multiprocessing).

At another workstation, all works well, with a ATI Radeon 4800 series...

Is there known QuadroFX4600 issues to work at AE using OpenGL?
(Someone said me it is a 4600 defficient, already corrected at 4800 model...)

AFAIK the 4600 suffers a hardware issue, where not all ALUs on the chip are actualyl active, thus preventing successful execution of specific shader commands. In short: Yes, it may be the card. Most likely nothing you can fix in any way.

In fact, i've downloaded the latest driver (196.75) and this didnt solve the problem:
drag a simple solid isnt so soft as in "Adaptative Resolution - OpenGL Off".


Well, at this moment, i just would like to know if there is another Nvidia problematic cards,
because i will have to acquire one to my home machine and i am unsure about which one would be the better. I was considering to go with QuadroFX 3800 (because of its good performance at 3ds max, that is very important at my job), but after my deception with QuadroFX4600 (concerning to AE OpenGL), i would like to know it this one (3800) or GTX295 have any issue of this kind....

And of course, any suggestion is welcomed.
