Ekkkkk! I almost missed this competition! I've been waiting for the new competition to appear in the events section for months and I almost missed it! I've been unable to enter any previous competitions, so I was determined to enter this one. I stumble across it today and find that people have already started modelling... :- ( I almost didn't bother entering considering its already been going for a few weeks until I realised it has literally been years since I've had both the chance and free time to model and animate something for the fun of it. I have a lot of catching up to do and this is too good of a subject to pass up.
Ok, the initial idea is inspired from the plush Giant Microbes collection, deadly and cute at the same time. A B-Movie film trailer about Giant Alien Microbes attacking earth, but really tongue in cheek style, as in;
You see the string that is attached to the microbes moving them around,
Set props in the scene are obviously cardboard cut outs.
Animation of the any of giant monster alien parts is in a stop motion style. (ie. the old Sinbad the Sailor movies)
Basically making it look like the budget for the movie was just a tad higher than that of 'Button Moon'. (I really hope I'm not the only one who remembers Button Moon and the spoon family, :- ( I feel old.)
I think I'm going to have lot of fun modelling and animating them.
So many good cheesy tag lines for the trailer, A completely contagious viewing experience, Truly an infectious movie, Vaccinate yourself before watching, not to mention I have to get some dig in there about Bird and Swine flu.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

This is pretty much the idea I had for the 50's style B-Movie Trailer. Giant Alien Microbes attacking earth, you can see the string attached to them. The city's are obviously smaller toy sized city's. Loads of cheesy bad puns throughout the trailer.
This certainly isn't the best storyboard I've ever done, but I did get doodled during just my lunch break at work and is gets the point across ok, so it will do for now.
The cheesy phrases will probably be re-worded, and by the time I'm finished modelling things, but before I start animating them I will probably change and refine the storyboard into a more polished detailed version.

Well here are the first 3 Giant Cuddly Microbes modelled. This is the first time I've ever used the Hair and Fur modifier in Max, so there is probably a lot more tweaking that I can do later on the fur.
Stay Tuned. Ecoli, Malaria, and the Pox are still to come.
