she's lovely

[edit] took a second look, also the hat and the clothes are very good. This ain't gonna work, so I started to look for something that does look less good... couldn't find it :hmm:  :applause:

09-01-2003, 01:44 PM
nice mood to it, a classic look, works for me.

top job.

09-01-2003, 01:53 PM
Very nice work... congratulations!

09-01-2003, 01:56 PM
I stared at this work for a little while, looking for something to pick fault with...and there really isn't anything. Maybey the lighting could be more realistic, maybey the texture doesn't look real, or have enough translucency...but then those crits would only hold up providing you were trying to make it real. As it is, it is slightly stylised (which is good) and near flawless...well done!

09-01-2003, 02:03 PM
Woow~~~great work

09-01-2003, 02:10 PM

09-01-2003, 05:36 PM
Wicked work indeed.

Only crit would be her right (our left) eyelashes (could just be a slight transparency issue--or could just be the lighting) just kinda stood out for me.

Other then that, cheers and good times!

09-01-2003, 05:41 PM
Beautiful. She is very believable.

The little aviator is a lucky kid.

09-01-2003, 05:43 PM

I noticed that as well and I beleive that it's because premultiplied alpha channels were used instead of straight and a halo is being created around the eyelashes as a result... this is very fixable.

09-01-2003, 07:38 PM
Very beautiful, especially loved the black and white.

09-01-2003, 08:23 PM
very impressive display of skills:thumbsup:

09-01-2003, 08:28 PM
Thanks for all your feedbacks people!

konst, RenderWoman : the render takes about 25 minutes , hairs with shadows are quite slow to render

StefanoTobacco : Don`t know, others told me that it`s too reddish.... humm..

Simon.Reeves ahahah

siquier Thanks, know, i used your great tutorial for the eyelashes !

dimitrios_c Yes, interesting point... i always start making something as more photorealistic as possible...but it`s so difficult (at least for me...eheh), so at the end it comes naturally to me to make something more illustrative, spending much research on overall mood and composition, that`s a limitation of mine , or simply my attitude 8D

Ostov : Thanks viking, your suggestions have been precious, really.

CEE-GEE i don`t know who`s more crazy ... afer all you are making Code Guardian all alone ... eheh

Thirdeye Thanks for all the anatomic insights and suggestions, all have been very useful ...but as u can see i didn` change the cheek`s wrinkle eheh

Douglask, gmask yes, you`re right....Douglas catched the point, i`ll fix it as soon as possible

sMileGraPhix Grazie Iacopo!

Here`s some wireframes :

09-01-2003, 09:37 PM
Great work....

I love the BW, totaly photorealistic

09-01-2003, 09:43 PM
Wow, that's a great model. I especially like your shaders, they are what makes it especially supurb. Do you have any advice for shading, tutorials, etc.? The skin is fantastic. I really looks like skin with make-up applied, amazing.

09-01-2003, 09:58 PM

09-01-2003, 10:37 PM
That's one purdee ladee.

Excellent work - the slight irridescence on the bottom lip is a stroke of genius

09-01-2003, 11:04 PM
WOW, great!

09-01-2003, 11:08 PM
skin looks a little grainy especially under the left eye...
but overall it looks nice.

09-01-2003, 11:50 PM
this is amazing!

and thanx for the wire sharing!!
:applause: :buttrock:

09-02-2003, 12:47 AM

the second is just amazing!

09-02-2003, 02:11 AM
Beautiful! I think the most prominent feature of this image is the texture work, the model is great no doubt, but you really captured this model with the textures, I really dig the band around the base of the top hat and the feather. Very nice.

You have received the CGtalk choice award .Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! Awespiring work!

upon receiving this award, it guarantees you a spot in the cgtalk gallery hall of fame ( - which you are now placed

P.S. Please email me @ so I can send you the award .psd file

09-02-2003, 04:27 AM
the eyes are too clean. if it is a blinn for the eyes then i would say that the eccentricity is also a bit too high.

but overall very, very nice work

09-02-2003, 04:57 AM
That study is tight dood!

My eye gets a little janked by the way the shadows hug the left cheek/mouth area in the black & white shot - and something about the temple/brow/cheek relationship doesn't quite line up, (I also kinda wonder how tall she's supposed to be - and how old).

Solid, werk! :arteest:

peace d=^)

09-02-2003, 05:34 AM
Great work!
and Beautiful woman

Your wire is very useful!thanks a lot!

:buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

09-02-2003, 06:30 AM
Extra-earth work for the black and white version !!!
Like the expression on her face a lot.
This image is perfect.

For the color version,I would simply say that the eyes appear to me too bright, too white, too clean.
Apart from that...

:applause: for the award.

(and :deal: one day , he will be mine... )

09-02-2003, 06:55 AM
excellent texturing and work with Shag! Keep that way :)

09-02-2003, 08:08 AM

09-02-2003, 09:21 AM

09-02-2003, 09:36 AM
Im in love with her :( to bad she isend real :P

09-02-2003, 11:39 AM

09-02-2003, 04:04 PM

The suit looks plastic, it is too smooth and shiny. It needs duller highlights (I can't remember what Max calls it) and the clothes need a bump on them.

The head looks great though.

09-02-2003, 05:37 PM
I like the Black & white shot a little better than the color one. It looks a bit more realistic.

They are both excellent images!!!:buttrock:

09-02-2003, 09:56 PM
Thanks to you all for the feedbacks and critiques, and for the gallery award! :)

Regards, Ale

How do you dare showing such an ugly picture ? ...
BASTARD ! Wonderfull style and lightning. It match perfectly the style.

09-03-2003, 01:17 AM
Bravissimo! great mix of stylished overall look and hyperrealistic details. The hair, the textures the lightning, the clothes, everything is perfect.

Trying hard to split hairs, I would say that maybe I would add a millimeter or two to the distance between her upper lips and her nostrils.

You are a great artist, I'll try to follow your work! Good luck!

09-03-2003, 04:38 PM
As I said before on IRC this is simply stunning work! I prefer the b/w version, it has a mood rarely seen in CG, this is defeneatly one of the best pictures I've ever seen.

One little thing tho, why is it that hardly any threads gets 5 stars? This work should obviously be rated as high as possible... maybe we have some jealous kids on this board trying to bring the ratings down eh? From me it's defeneatly 5 stars out of 5!

09-25-2003, 01:48 PM

09-25-2003, 11:24 PM
World class images Alessandro !!! I always were a fan of your work and these images made sure I still will be ! Maybe (probably) even more !!!

I think both images are awesome ! I sometimes see people creating a B/W version of their image to hide imperfections, but you are superb both in colour and B/W !!!
