Hello sweet audience,
Here is my modest contribution to the b-movie challenge.

I don?t know what might happen with it
Only visual ideas... nothing definitively precised. Plot could be about a brain insight of a lady before love.
Maybe realistic .. maybe fantasy .. maybe cartoon.. maybe abstract.. organic and inorganic ..

Experimenting with it. No deadline defined yet.

city is curves extruded to surfaces and then converted to polys, overall structure and helico are nurbs.

a few ipr for lighting and color choice, i set different glow and fog settings, test with ibl t and physical sun and sky.

i keep the same field of view and modify lights and shaders settings on different areas to choose the ones i prefer in ipr.
no textures, no details and no definitive shaders yet.

I've selected trim squares-roofs and moved them up to make them seeable at the bottom of the previous post.

Wires in motion with low poly helico to decrease rendering time and bitmap city textures done in Photoshop with my shots of La Defense :

Nightview : i would have had to switch many things to modify textures looking, glowing was the best solution but was deforming the render .. So i choose this looking, but i dont think i will stay on it, i will maybe post it on one of my next updates.

im with AdrianLazar on this one, i find it quite confusing and not 100% sure it falls into the bmovie category from your last posts...can you explain your idea with a screenplay or a synopsis or whatever?
im not dissing the idea just finding it hard to get my head around at the moment.

I've used a painted texture for ibl lighting that i made with Photohsop and Maya, and i haven't used any facial texture for this face unlike the previous one i painted with Photoshop with my own skin maps.
Regular eye material with circular ramp texture that i've glowed for both characters.

you have a really interesting style, here! I mean, sure, I have no idea what's going on, and your "2d storyboards" look like some abstract art in their own right, but it is definitely different from anything else being done for this challenge.

I see some people mentioned it might not fit into the "B-Movie" category. initially I thought the same, but after thinking about it and seeing some of your latest posts, I believe this could work with the theme. it's hard to describe the style, but it kind of makes me think of what Tron might have looked like if they made a low-budget version of it in the late 90's. I don't mean that as an insult in any way. it's actually quite slick! keep it up!

I didn't get the main idea of the story but that really looks promising to me... I don't know it fits b-movie style or not but it's really brilliant and yeah it's different from the others. Although we don't know how your story will go(or maybe just me), but i think it seems perfect even now, keep going. Good lucks with your work ;)

The story is about events that happen in the brain of a woman before falling in love.
I mean to use metaphoric figuration to describe it, with contradictory feelings that twist her head in many ways, different environment designs and a few secondary characters that haunt her.
This is a sort of psychotrip with insight and outsight of her head.
The feelings are the action, the action happens in her brain that represent the outside world, in where she is standing, deformed by her hopes and fears.

oh I am definitely with you, this is a B-Movie style! A trippy one, a different one... Many folks around just working on movies that are imho less -B- than yours since they try to replicate something what was -A- class in the time of its glory. Good luck!

intriguing update. I like the unapologetically digital look that you are going for. oh, and after looking at it again, somehow, I think I actually might understand what your storyboards are showing (by the way, you should make it into a poster or something, haha). what is cool about your film is that I'm not sure what it will be like when it is finished. as Juraj was saying, "B-movie" does not necessarily mean that you have to do what is expected based on the old stereotypes. not everyone will understand, but I have a feeling you will teach all of us something with your entry.

Here is Nina my main character, i use four meshes and four eyes systems depending on animation and rendering needs.
I painted her facial textures with Ps using phototextures of my sweet Nina and hair shader.

I do most of my tests with lowres meshes and settings in order to render faster, then i check the ones that need to be smoothed and detailed.

helico ipr shading test, i reset wings glow and transparency values depending on the amount of helico i use in my insect-clouds scene, brightness is stronger when leaving previous settings and modify whole lighting :

I will see if i make a long lenth cut or a short length cut, at least it will be 30 secondes.
I have rendered around one hour for the moment. Make your input if you would like me to focus on some fov.

Jeez, Christophe, you gave my eyes serious training this morning with all your glows ;) That was some mental experience. I've got a book with, old one, with best computer art (of that era). This is exactly like from the begining of CG visuals. You captured it very well. I only wish there was more clear story, something that invite us to this mental journey. Maybe a live footage contrast will do the trick, like girl in coma or with some mental projector on her head, but with real life actress. Very original entry, Good luck!
