Hello all, I wanted to get a crit of my portfolio at http://www.badgerarmored.net/ (http://www.badgerarmored.net/)and what I should add in terms of environments and general look. Environment art is what I want to get into the most, I have taken a short mental break over past few months and still want to get into the industry.

You know you've been pimping that same portfolio layout with those same pieces since 2007? I mean, it's all documented here on this forum. http://forums.cgsociety.org/search.php?searchid=2271090
Don't you think it's time to make something new, jump into some current technology like UDK and update that layout based on any of the feedback you've been given over the years?

The bathroom texturing looks interesting, but the lighting seemed odd to me. Looks like it's lit from a skylight in the ceiling, but there are these spiderweb-looking things coming out of the window, are those supposed to be godrays? They look more like spiderwebs, but they're not in the corners, and they end in mid-air.
I'd like to see all the shots and textures in one page, and you only need two shots of the room (bathtub angle and sink angle), not enough difference in the four shots to justify my time clicking on them. And please include texture flats, and wireframes, so I can see how you work.
Getting this into a game engine would be a good idea, otherwise I can't judge whether you understand the issues of getting artwork into one.

I have tried to take the crits from the past and apply them, sorry if I am wasting any ones time or being annoying in asking for the help. I know I have posted my site here before.

Thank you Eric, I am downloading Unreal Ed and will put my bathroom in that environment and mabey post my results back here, Unreal Ed is the system I know the most.
artraider this portfolio is something I have seen several times. With very minor changes and new stuff.
I understand you want to get more crits... but their have been countless posts under your threads that have tried to help you move forward. I understand you want a job in the industry. The way your going for it is just not helping you at all.
Instead of recreating or reworking... old work... make some new stuff.
As pointed out by GradiusCancer these works have been seen time and time again. The thing is your not wasting our times we got all the time in the world... And are making constant new designs. The truth of the mater is you have been wasting your own time. Provided from the work on the site I will not say you do not have the skills to enter the game industry... skill wise... but a very important factor is your portfolio has not changed or grown that much since 2007. You are really doing yourself a disservice by not going onto new projects. If your problem is imagination I suggest many ways to take this process into a easier and concentrated type is using a challenge per challenge method.
The way I suggest is to find game challenges or game tests that are common and create your own take on those.
Or taking some concept art by known Environment artist and recreating it.
Really I can not tell you enough your not wasting our time you have been unfortunately wasting your own time by not making new stuff. Especially when people here have been very kind to give you very precise crits, help, and general advice to take. Even now, I am sure I am saying very alike things that others have said before.
I urge you to get up.... or in this case sit down and really start pounding out some awesome environment designs. The skills you have say you can make the stuff, but seems your personality says other wise, show us you can! I think you can... you just need a reality check. Move on from your old stuff.

Thank you for the help and the reply, I appreciate any help given on this forum . I understand I need to simply make more new work and put it in engine or simply just make some really quality work till hired.

Productivity is the antagonist here. Like RO posted, I'm simply directing your attention to a well documented artistic census.
I do this myself at months or years end. As in, examine all the time stamps on files (start and completion ideations) to evaluate my own productivity. That's just for my own improvement, but this is how a lot of places work. The larger company especially, does yearly reviews, and if you're not keeping up with your contributions you can be held back or downsized. Of course, if you're not working it'll come sooner.
The main consideration here is time goes by very fast, and you've got to start thinking about this realistically. How long does it take to create a nice portfolio piece? The answer is 1-2 weeks to a month depending on scope.
Look at all these challenges and competitions out there. Unearthly or DomWar for example (www.unearthlychallenge.com). These are usually one month (give a week or two extensions). It's a one month excuse to make a great portfolio piece everyone will see AND it will get your name out there.
Now do the math on this and we have one piece a month, twelve months a year over the past three years, you could have easily had 36 amazing new pieces. And don't think for a second that's a lot. I make hundreds of pieces a year for work alone. Not all are portfolio materials, but this is the kind of PRODUCTIVITY I'm talking about.
If you're not creating you are not learning, you aren't improving, or getting your name out there. Just start building and finishing pieces. Make, Produce, Create, GO!

whoa dude you haven't updated your portfolio in ages.... you need new stuff!!! I agree with everyone here. I also think your problem is your just trying to get into the industry over and over and over. You need to just focus on getting better at making stuff in general before you apply anywhere again.

Just wanted to see what all the fuss is about, and yeah I remember seeing that bathroom scene AGES ago. The fact that I can recognize it means either I spend too much time on here or you need to DELETE IT and make something new.
Also, your gun renders are orthographic.... why? (unless I'm going totally blind)

I have been working on the art test posted before and this is not done of course, I will probobly bring it into UnrealED after being done with textures.
