Latest Update: Work In Progress: Kevin the Invaded (

I have just been browsing through some reference images to get some inspiration happening. There is just so many awesome things to do with B grade movies i didnt know where to start! I think i am going to focus on the horror stream rather than the sci fi, and I kind of wanted to do a take on Werewolves and a creepy small town invasion..

Im still stirring up the ideas but this is my progress thus far :)

I jotted down some thumbnails when i was brainstorming ideas. I wanted to create something inspired from Michael Jacksons "Thriller" because i watched the film-clip the other night and the whole invasion of zombies and the frightened heroine and masculine are pretty key characteristics in B grade horror movies.

So my whole idea is basically centered around a boy and a girl in a small country town who have just realized that, one by one, their family members and friends and local towns folk have been disappearing. As they walk through the empty town to investigate, the growing and ominous forest literally seems to creep up from behind them...

They soon realise that they are cornered by the evil (for lack of a better word) TREE PEOPLE and their town has been invaded! Will our hero save the day? Or will they be devoured by vines and leaves like the other townsfolk?

...yet to be decided.

So thats all I have for now. I am excited now that finally I have an idea with elements that i can start tweaking! I am still figuring out composition but im quite happy with the direction ive taken. Its predictable, a little lame and all together quite cheesy..but thats exactly what a b-grade movie is, isnt it?

That is why they are so awesome :)

Hello:) Started sketching out the main character of kevin as the invading vines burst out of his skin. Had a bit of trouble with the hands (still have not perfected them) and also positioning, but Im glad i have a chance to work on a challenge.

I decided to drop the original story of the boy and girl being cornered out by the evil tree people. There wasnt too much opportunity for character development or i thought something more emotive would be better.

So to sum it up, my image is basically showing kevin (the fallen hero) as he realizes that the evil tree people have invaded his body and he is turning into one of them. ill keep working at it :)
