Scary outer space monster starring in my image.

Laying out my ideas, dont laugh too much at my childish scribbles. Heh hopefully the modeling will be better eh ;)

Been working on the gunships attacking the Antimatter buzzard from the air. I dont have to go overly into details on them since they are pretty far away. Gonna concentrate on modelling at first, texture work later :) next some buildings, or a Abraham tank maybe.. :)

helicopter looks nice but the monster is just hilarious. :D . so you'll try to make it realy scary or realy funny?
01 January 2010, 07:41 PM
My plan is to keep the setting and human participants as real as possible and then have the monster look pretty much like it does in the refs. I think will be a good combination of modelled realism and the B-movie monster :) I hope it will work.

sounds good. if execution will be good, than i think this is going to be awsome

One more prop for the scene finished. Next I think I'll start on the urban environment and buldings.

nice modelling work, you make it look easy. i think it would defiantly be a good (and very funny) contrast to have everything realistic except for that very comical buzzard, great stuff !

Funny idea. Nice start on the hard surface models. Good luck.

That's one cool tank and apache model.. Looking forward to seeing these weapons in use (in your scene :))

Emptyshell : thanks alot for the comment. I hope the concept will work out well, best of luck to you as well :)
ScottMc : cheers, looks like there are so many great minds and ideas out there, its just an amasing contest and trying to be part of it is a honour for me.
Yongkiat : Thanks, its my next plan to start on the urban environment, so yeah the models will go in scene soon. I have some new ideas to extend the concept a little too will update with that soon.
I hope everyone is having as much fun as me in this endeavour.

The look on the buzzard's face is hilarious, lol. I think you should change the spelling from "outta" to "outer" though. I think it's funnier that way, because it makes it appear as if the attempt was to make a serious movie, yet some exec thought a goofy looking buzzard was actually a good idea. With "outta" it seems like an obvious comedy.
01 January 2010, 03:23 PM
I see your point for sure and I changed the text to "outer" to reflect that. My initial idea was that the creators of the movie intended to make a state of the art monster movie, they could afford all the high tech military equipment, but the funding ran out when it came to the monsters and so the result is what you see in the refs....Godzilla wannabee with starring B-movie monster. So yeah a serious movie attempt bound to end in the B-movie category.

Helicopters in the air, and tank positioned. fabricated one 1 of the buildings and desided to have the buzzard sitting on the tower of a church. A idea popped up that a egg would be hatched already and a hatchling running around on the ground chasing a soldier. Another idea was to add a big bird dropping on the ground close to the camera.. well just ideas so far, otherwise the concept is the same.
01 January 2010, 02:02 PM
I did a bit of drawing at work today and came up with a concept for the hatchling and the Vulture sitting on the church, so many things to model still, I got alot of work to do heh. On a side note it's just amasing to see all the great ideas and work people do in this challenge. Keep up the good work everyone.

It's confirmed, The Giant Claw has a mate and they have children! :) As I wanted one of the eggs to have already hatched I modelled this guy, he will be chasing a soldier in the main square infront of the church. I hope he is comic enough, the monsters should have a comic quality.

I found a bit of time to work on the claw of the attacking bird. will put it in the scene tomorrow.
01 January 2010, 03:29 PM
Few more models added to the scene, alot more texture work needs to be done. Just trying to get a feel for the colours and such. Loads of details still to be done, main monster + characters still to be done.
