Heres a link to a render of my character, the one that I am trying to transfer the automated spider rig over to. This is related to the spider demo scene thread that I have also been posting to.
I also plan on fully texturing this character once I get it fully rigged. Right now this is just rendered with radiosity and a panel light.

Dont know if I mentioned if before about it being a guy, if I did then I guess it's had a sex change operation :) As for the boob, it was there before, It just got a breast implant the other night.
Only a few small touches and it will be finished on the modeling side.
And yes I agree it is weird. Just wait till I get it rigged and textured.

As long as it is a breast itīs okay, but dont put a penis on it or the world will collapse :surprised
Like the freaky look of the model, reminds me of a creature from a John Carpenter movie: The Thing, nice work :thumbsup:

Yeah it does kind of have that Carpenter/thing look dosent it? The concept is at least present.
Actually, the character was a combonation of 2 things; a model of a hand that I had made, and another model of a face that I had started. The face was actually taken from a memory I had, from when I was 10 or so, of a mascot of a company that makes fishing sinkers:
Now that I am looking at the actual mascot, I think the only real thing it has in common is that the ears. However like most memories, the actual memory is more interresting than reality. Kind of like the movie Swamp Thing for instance :)
I had the hand model sitting around for months, it was part of a lunchtime project I had undertaken at work. That project got sidelined after a while and almost forgotten until after I made most of the head. I rediscovered the model while backing up crap and downloads to clear space on my drive. When I saw the model of the hand, I figured that it might be a neat body for the head and went with it. The bulb on the back was added later as a way to balence the character off. Without it, the model looked top heavy in the front.
And rescently (last week) I decided that it's a girl. I added the boob in the front, also theres the orifice in the back that will be used to birth a bunch of smaller multilegged creatures. That ought to be interresting :) Also I might go smaller with the boob, I just want it to be noticable flopping around when I apply the softbodies to it. If it ends up being too floppy I will definately tone it down.

It will be fully rigged and animated to some extent by the end of the weekend. At least that is the plan. I am currently rigging the face. I am following the mask demo scene that Tarron did as an example.
I am thinking more of a stone temple or sub terranian setting.

2 more to look at. I rigged half the head. I haven't touched the eyes yet.
Also both of the renders have black spots to the right. I have to investigate the settings a bit further to see what's causing them.

I've been trying to get an aswer out of ne1 about the capabilites of Messiah's renderer, how robust it is?, does it pipe out to other to Brazil, Renderman or Mental Ray, how fast is it?, what is the overall quality of the renders?
Right now I render with Lightwave and although it has good quality and I run a screamer net setup, there are renderers out there that are still faster than my 3 comp garden as far as pushing out animation frames. For someone working on his own trying to make his own foot prints in this great big world a speed and feature advantage would do a alot and reduce my overhead cost of running more machines and equipment.

It's renderer is still not ready for prime time, yet. Wait a few weeks or so and see what develops after the release is offically out.
It doesn't pipe out to PRman, Mentalray etc at this point in time. It will port over to Maya and Max so you could get it over to those other render engines that way.

2 more, face is almost totally rigged. Once the character is fully rigged, I might start mapping it.
