Hi guys,

I'm trying to model a bird, in similar anatomy to an eagle. Does anyone have any reference pictures i could use of a side and front view? Any full tutorials on modelling the bird and possibly rigging.

Thanks for your help!

Hi again,

i've got the basics down for my bird. my problem now is trying to make a wing. I'm new to character modeling and i will need to rig this bird. It should be able to fold its wings and fly. Would it be better to model the wings as one mesh like these:

or would it be best to model it as just the major bone, then single separate polys for the feathers like this:

your opinion, help and advise is really appreciated!

It'll be easier to rig a single mesh, then it will be to try and get all off the individual feathers to animate corrected if separated. However a single mesh is going to give a lot of problems when you try and fold it up in the resting position. depending on your level of rigging you might try having the multi-object wing. but if your like me you probably better off having 2 models, one with the separate feathers that you can manually fix for the folding position and 1 with a single object wing for flapping.
