Latest Update: Work In Progress: wip all (

Just a few inspiration movies and characters, I'll be using for the background story.
I like the poster with annotations etc. Im not going to do Gainsbourg portrait, just using him as a base ref for modeling something different.

good luck all

not sure about the title yet,

This is a simple story.
An ugly man is using puppetry to control gorgeous women and achieve his dark plans: kill handsome and rich men, and steal their money.

This bad guy has been created by a mad scientist. He got some scars, cheap make up, and -maybe- 4 arms.

Im pretty sure this composition is not new, but I like it. Could be changed of course. :D

Nice and creepy!

Like the Idea, and love the concept, the choice of colours are great!

thanks guys =) (

Just started to sculpt the bust of the bad guy.
Not sur if I keep him bald ... could be a nice contrast with the babe.

edit: sorry for the size, the original uploaded file was a lot bigger :s

That's one awesome looking bad guy you have so far :)

To view the image at the size you uploaded, if you click on the image, at the end of the file name it will say "medium" replace medium with large.

nice start ...
good luck !

I like of you concept.

you modeling is too realist.

The original idea and the hard edges of you drawing is much better to me.

If you distort you model to looks like the style of your ow draw, i think that will be better to me! ;)

good work

Awesome idea and sculpt so far man.
Yea your sculpts are crazy. I loved your DW character.

01 January 2010, 04:22 AM
Really like how you sculpt the bad guy...creepy with the stitches!

Sorry =), it was my intention to do something a bit realistic. But I understand what you mean. I think the mood of the sketch can be saved with the lighting and composition.

Great sculpt work!

I like the colors of the concept, didn't see instantly the pupeteer, ehehe, especially with a femme fatale as the main focus, so it's effective :P
I think it will be a great poster, it has potential :)

About the background of the bad guy, why does it have to be created by a mad scientist? For me it's simpler if he is the mad scientist :P (I know, it's not important for the poster itself ;) )

Best of luck

lbelerique > you are right about the story, I just throw my ideas. Thanks !

I modified the composition, it's a bit messy, but useful :D
The girl is not posed of course, and the vilain is a bit too kind for the moment.

The idea is to see first the titlle, then the puppets murder scene, then the girls body, and finally the bad guy. The girl is a bit too lighted atm.

wow, u have some serious modeling skills! Love the bad guy character, looks like a true villain. I would show him more on the final piece, its too much hidden in my opinion. But cant wait to see ur progress! good luck :)

Impressive modeling and very interesting concept!

01 January 2010, 11:12 AM
looking great. i like your story and poster design and love your bad guy sculpt. personally i like the bad guy being hidden in the background, it works well for his character becuase he's a puppeteer, so you wouldn't ever see much of him, he's working in the background, getting others to do his dirty work. good luck !

01 January 2010, 05:03 PM
Already rocks !
Nice Head sculpting !

01 January 2010, 06:56 PM
I really like your concept. It's totally in the mood.

Can't wait to see more!

01 January 2010, 07:20 PM
The Puppet guy is looking creepy already!!! Great start!

01 January 2010, 07:25 PM
Hai... I like it =]
The mood color is fascinant ^^

02 February 2010, 09:37 AM (

trying to find another similar composition.
The murder scene in the background (the blue elongated shadow)is a bit difficult to read atm.
I use some ps filters to flatten the zbrush renders together.

I prefer the one on the middle, with maybe an additionnal rim light coming from the right.

NinjaA55N > thanks a lot ! His face is bigger in the new comp =)
Emptyshell > I aggree with you
Antropus, Paperboy, gpepper, jddog, Gisaiagami > thanks !

This last composition just great!
So much expression and it is really eyecatching.
I like the middle one, but warm shadows on girls on the right image are very good looking for me too.
Good luck to you!

02 February 2010, 01:40 PM
Your concept (and style) is really interesting! I also prefer the one in the middle.
Bonne chance pour la suite! =]

02 February 2010, 03:38 PM (

Just show the current wip of all the models I started.
Im planning to add some fake cheap make up on the bad guy face, he actually looks more normal as in the last wip, but this will change.

Eskarina, PELENG > glad you like it !

02 February 2010, 04:28 PM
Very creepy looking character models, lots of personality in them. I really like your concept too, personally I wouldn't get too arty with the colours as it has a strong hammer horror feel to the layout, but not the colours if you know what I mean?

02 February 2010, 11:06 PM
Agreed with StayFrosty there is a lot of personality in your character! I like it very much! Will you change the expression of bad guy or leave it as it is?

02 February 2010, 11:14 PM
Looking great, Jocz! He reminds me of a classic Bond villain... not a specific one, he just makes a really good b-movie bad guy. A bit more smirk and some meaner eyebrows would be nice, but I'm sure he'll be refined as you finish and texture him. Keep it up!

02 February 2010, 01:51 AM
Hey Jocelyn,

Really cool concept, like a lot your idea. :D The models looks awesome so far.
Like your compositions and agree wiyh you with the middle color scheme, puts a really nice "noir" touch on your image.

Great work and looking forward for more updates. Cheers!!
