01 January 2010, 11:00 AM
good luck!! :)
01 January 2010, 05:15 PM
hey guys! thank u for the early replies :) I also got my first idea about the topic..
It will be a ZOMBIE CIRKUS image.. with flesheating clowns, dead walking elephants, stretching zombie ppl, and all kind of circus freaks that I would think of.. and of course an audience being slashed and eaten and lots of gore.. bwahahahaha.. sketches soon I hope :)
01 January 2010, 08:28 PM
Sounds like ā cool idea, Blaz. Good luck!!
01 January 2010, 10:45 AM
Hey Blaz! Good to see you here! Another familiar face form the olden days of CG Challenges! Hoorah!
Best of luck with your entry!
01 January 2010, 02:30 PM
waiting for an update, can't w8 to see the sketch :)
have fun man,
01 January 2010, 10:02 AM
It's great to see here so many talented people
I'm very excited :bounce:
01 January 2010, 03:15 PM
This is my first sketch of what I'd like to portray here... a Circus to die for.. or something.. bunch of zombie clowns, freaky siam twins, stitched together heavy strongman, dead walking elephant in the back, etc. Still lots of work defining those characters and bringing in some more of them.
01 January 2010, 03:29 PM
Excelent work, the cirus of horror!
it seems that I'm just fond of clowns as a child ... :(
01 January 2010, 07:28 PM
I changed the zombie clown into a juggler. I think the composition works better this way. And I also played with the color scheme a bit. They will be quite vivid, like from old day horror movie posters, with lots of blue and red tones.
01 January 2010, 07:34 PM
Zombie clowns, who could ask for more, fantastic start
01 January 2010, 07:58 PM
Interesting colour application. well done, you're on your way
01 January 2010, 08:01 PM
great stuff man, i knew you would deliver :)
01 January 2010, 08:55 PM
D#mn your good, realy love it!!! Great style you've got going here.
Oh and thx for your comment, appreciate it.
01 January 2010, 09:24 PM
Wow!! Coooool concept, love the tones and colours. Really nice
01 January 2010, 10:23 PM
killer! can't wait to see how this turns out.
01 January 2010, 10:29 PM
this is gonna be 1 of the best ;)
01 January 2010, 11:23 PM
dang just that concept looks awesome
01 January 2010, 02:35 AM
Cirque du Dead, I love it!
01 January 2010, 08:47 AM
game over you win!! collect prize, lol....
01 January 2010, 09:05 AM
Then change to juggler is very cool...and the color space is very creepy..
01 January 2010, 09:23 AM
looks really dynamic and the colours look great....will be keeping an eye on this :)
01 January 2010, 10:21 AM
Holy.. this is awesome! Epic composition and awesome characters!
01 January 2010, 11:07 AM
Holy crap - that's excellent...
Can't wait to see this progress!
01 January 2010, 11:17 AM
love this !! awesome composition, its already got a creepy carnival kind of feeling . . . brilliant.
01 January 2010, 11:52 AM
AWESOME !
01 January 2010, 12:02 PM
Beautiful, I love the color choices and the layout is wonderful. I'll keep checking in!
01 January 2010, 12:21 PM
Thatīs an interesting idea and the composition is incredible. Great work!
01 January 2010, 01:42 PM
I like it, very dynamic composition and contrasts.
Right now it's a bit hard to distinguish what's what, but I'm sure you got it all figured out already. Judging by your portfolio, I'm sure it's gonna be more than awesome. If there would be one thing, it almost feel to cool and sophisticated for a B-movie... even thought the theme nails it.
01 January 2010, 04:58 PM
I love the composition!
01 January 2010, 05:17 PM
Great start! I hope you complete this piece.
At first I thought the skull in the foreground was magically hovering then I was let down a little when I saw that he was simply juggling...maybe something to think about there.
It would be great if the elephant could have something supernatural/undead about him as well---he would fit in a lot better that way. Maybe the strongman could be holding up one of those classic dumbells rather than just having the strongman animal print outfit and maybe one those those zombies in the front could be riding a tricycle...those always seem creepy! That would tie them all together a bit more...
Nice work, looking forward to what you do with it!
01 January 2010, 07:22 PM
Love the feel of perspective you managed to work in early on. Inspired me to have a rethink.
01 January 2010, 12:36 AM
crazy composition & colors. Nice start! :)
01 January 2010, 03:17 PM
Thank you for all ur great responses!
NJA3d: thnx man! Im glad u like it!
MVDB: I'm dropping into ur thread really often.. u have such a funny concept :D and thnx!
ShogunWarrior: hahaha... take it easy :D but I'm glad u like it!
JRGauthier: All my early sketches are messy :) I got used to work that way, since I dont have so much free time. So when an idea pops into my head, I try to put it down as quick as possible, including colors. And I also love working the way where I can upgrade characters along with the painting process, not knowing from the start what would they look like. That way I think I can always change my image for the better, redesigning it if I think its necessary. I also see what u mean with looking too "cool". I'll try to make these creatures a bit cheesy, like those from Evil Dead and Brain Dead movies :) thnx a lot for stoping by!
harmless: I hope I'll find the time to finish this piece as well ;) fingers crossed! I see what u mean with the hovering skull, but I'll try to stick with the story of undead circus.. Hovering skulls would portray a different background of these creatures, although it would be cool, I agree :) The elephant will sure look dead.. Im thinking of skinning it, so only meat and blood will be on the bones.. or making it zombie like, dried, disintegrated or rotten. And instead of a tricycle I have also plans for a monocycle rider :) thnx for all the suggestions and for stopping by!
handlebar, LightSovereign, Paperboy, AshCR24, KIDI, akacg, Gilfindel, Yongkiat, Ashaman, Pegahoul, AJ, Emptyshell, NH, csmallfield, Xion-Cajou, Danko, tombo1980, Marat-Ars: thank you all for stopping by and taking the time :) really appreciate it!
01 January 2010, 04:05 PM
Really nice start, that sketchs tells already a story also great composition and colors, can't wait to see more :)
01 January 2010, 04:43 PM
love it !
I need a poster of this :>
01 January 2010, 06:42 PM
that looks like very fantastic. I like this colors, and scenery.
I waiting for more........ !
arts & graphics
01 January 2010, 07:19 PM
I bow to you with respect.
01 January 2010, 03:08 AM
I'm keeping an eye on this one !! just wow :)
01 January 2010, 04:04 AM
this is pretty frighting..Love it. Love the composition too.
01 January 2010, 09:54 AM
Very interesting what will continue to be, nice start.
01 January 2010, 02:03 PM
great original concept, cool color scheme, terrific framing.. very good all around man. Looking forward to more
01 January 2010, 10:08 PM
I am really busy lately, but cant help myself to take an hour or two off to work on this piece.. playing with characters, but yet just a start :)
01 January 2010, 10:11 PM
This looks awesome already! I love the color pallet so far. I can't wait to see this piece finished!
01 January 2010, 10:54 PM
I have to change my job and my hobbies...
When I see this kind of sketches I always think I am not really born for this...
01 January 2010, 10:55 PM
it reminds me of my childhood when i first watch chucky,.. keep it up.
01 January 2010, 10:58 PM
This is coming along brilliantly! subbing!
01 January 2010, 11:03 PM
amazing colours and composition!
01 January 2010, 11:03 PM
I love your "tidy up mes"s of strokes and colors. The way you capture lights and shadows with those yet undefined brushes is amazing!!
01 January 2010, 11:25 PM
Thanks for such a support guys! Really means a lot to me :)
gpepper: this isnt a sketch anymore, so dont change ur profession :D
Now Im thinking of replacing the character in the right, swinging on elephants tusk... instead of him, there will be a classic beautiful lady in white, screaming, while the elephant holds her with its trunk. I need to import some of those cliches from the golden era of B-Movies!
01 January 2010, 11:50 PM
i like how the front zombie jangler is cumming along !!!
01 January 2010, 11:51 PM
just some quick tweaks, before I go to bed.. and a girl sketch in the elephants trunk.
01 January 2010, 01:43 AM
lookin good, your brush work is really smooth..judging by the elephants trunk, what settings do you use for your brushes?.
01 January 2010, 05:58 AM
wow that looks good.
I have some catching up to do.
01 January 2010, 06:55 AM
Wow! Zombie clowns!!!Im truly happy! :D Great work...mad painting skills!
01 January 2010, 08:11 AM
Thank you folx!
LightSovereign: at this stage, there r no special brushes yet.. default round brush for everything (spacing setting is set to 1% for smoother strokes). Later I'll start using some squared brushes and texture brushes as well..
01 January 2010, 08:40 AM
Awesome work Blaz.
I love the zombie-clown idea, keep it up !
01 January 2010, 09:33 AM
Wow very nice composition. I love how all the characters have their place on the canvas. Can`t wait to see more.
01 January 2010, 06:07 AM
My favorite part so far is the zombie elephant, haven't seen one of those yet. Great job, look forward to seeing this progress.
01 January 2010, 09:52 AM
This is a really really nice image, it's way too sophisticated and cool to be a B-movie , it just oozes high quality style!
01 January 2010, 11:20 AM
This is by far my favorite entry in here. Excellent brush and color. Awesome!
01 January 2010, 11:43 AM
anto-toni, RageOfAges: thank you! I hope whats coming up wont disappoint u :)
petercw: thanks! Im glad u like the elephant, although Im not sure if he really fits into the image.. or at least where it is now.. will see if I'll keep him and where will I place him at the end.
StayFrosty: I hope I'll manage to make it B-Movie class.. mostly with cheesy characters that r coming up. thnx for ur comment!
artvandeley: wow! Coming from u, it really means a lot to me! Thank you!
01 January 2010, 11:53 AM
being busy with other stuff, but still found some time to rethink about the characters at 3 o'clock in the morning.. Donno if the elephant really works the way it is now, I also did some work on the strongman and change the siamtwins sisters into a freaky zombie like frankesteins bride thing.. or something :) Most changes r for the better of the composition I think (not sure though) so many things can still change and the characters r maybe not final yet.
//edit: since I really like the idea of siamtwins sisters... I'll sure put another head on those shoulders of her :) just donno how.. yet :)
01 January 2010, 11:53 AM
super fun. Great colors, I like the skull clown.I'm looking forward for your updates.
01 January 2010, 12:07 PM
This is looking great!
Does the juggling clown have two rows of upper teeth?
01 January 2010, 12:12 PM
i love the Siamese twins sisters too, and they are simple a must have when it comes to a circus of horror :)
maybe if you lose the stretched hand and put it in another pose, and place the other head in its place ...
that way it won't block the big guy behind her :)
01 January 2010, 12:17 PM
the undead elephant brings massive amount of atmosphere; i wouldn't change it too much.
i also liked the siamtwins very much; yet the singlehead does also well, but in my opinion not as much as the twins have done.
nontheless great rendering and atmosphere, a fine color palette and stunning motive.
01 January 2010, 06:14 PM
This is getting better and better...I kind of like the composition at the moment....the elephant is great as is :D
01 January 2010, 09:06 PM
Always a pleasure to see your concepts and paintings.
This idea is really great, superb work!!
Cant wait to see more on this concept!! Cheers!!
01 January 2010, 10:46 PM
I liked the zombie bouncing the elephant tusk more, it gave a more dinamic feel to the composition.
01 January 2010, 01:28 AM
I'm loving the zombie clown designs, style and composition is great. I can't wait to see how you handle what text your going to use.
01 January 2010, 02:51 AM
Dang that clown is awesome!
01 January 2010, 08:51 PM
Great work! Really coming through!
01 January 2010, 10:38 PM
This is shaping up most awesomely, lovely colours, great characters. Liking it lots!!
01 January 2010, 11:02 PM
Looking really excellent, and the colours are really nice I really like them, good work.
01 January 2010, 11:48 PM
Great attitude an expression on the demon clown, and amazing colors, even at this stage.
Jo Jo the dog-faced boy must be gnawing on somebody in the background.
Was that old movie "Freaks" an inspiration by any chance?
01 January 2010, 01:30 AM
I added another head to the girl, so the siamtwins sisters r back! :) And since no circus in town isn't without a gipsy fortune teller, I also added her to the image.. more stuff coming up!
01 January 2010, 03:45 AM
Look cool already! Just one question, did the elephant grab a girl with its trunk?
01 January 2010, 04:05 AM
Man this is looking totally awesome. I love these characters. I know you're not crazy about the elephant but I think you should leave it in. That one giant form in the back really sells the other characters a lot. Gypsy is gnarly. Love her. Siam twins are so unique in style. I truly like your artwork.
01 January 2010, 06:52 AM
Hey, nice girl, but I thought the composition was better when there was a hand there - felt more intense, and as I've said - coming through, now it's become more flat for my eyes. But I don't doubt your judgement, looking forward to what you end up doing :)
01 January 2010, 06:57 AM
Just HUGE !
I love it !
01 January 2010, 08:06 AM
this is becoming my favorite!
thank you for adding in the siam twin again! :buttrock:
01 January 2010, 11:02 AM
Hey guys! Thank u once again for such a support :) Once again something came across, so I hope there will be still time to finish this piece as well.. If I completely cut eating and sleeping from my schedule.. and there wasnt much of them anyway :D
LadyMedusa: yea, the clown has two rows of teeth :) thnx for stopping by!
NJA3d: here they r! back from the dead, hahaha.. I also loved them too much, so I squeezed them in, although there wasnt too much room :) thnx buddy!
Bran: I wont delete the elephant completely, maybe just add some more blue over him or change the pose.. so it will be more like a silhouette rather than poping into the first plan. Will see what works best. And the siamtwins r back! hehe.. thnx for ur comments!
LuisCaldeira: I agree that there was more movement with the previous character, but I thought that I shouldnt forget about the story and the atmosphere.. so I added a girl in.. but I will change her pose and bring the dynamics back into the image. Thnx for the suggestion!
MDR: thnx! Is text and title a must? I mean.. do I have to put them in the image? I didn't find that in the rules, but I could be wrong here.. help :)
ravioli_rancher: dogfaced boy is an exellent idea! Will sure try to squeeze him into the image as well :) thnx! Freaks? I never heard of that movie.. but I guess I should, if there is some more inspiration inthere :)
stephanielandry: yes, the elephant did grab the girl with its trunk. Will show that better in later stages of the process. thnx for stopping by!
RageOfAges: thank u so much! The elephant will stay for sure, Im just not sure about his pose and mybe I should push it a bit more to the back. We'll see.. :)
Dmitrij: thnx for pointing that out.. yea, the hand worked better composition wise, but I just couldn't left siamtwins out.. maybe I'll overpaint everything and make completely different composition in the further process.. and just hope that everything finds its place in the canvas, hehe.. thnx again!
serio, Yongkiat, Ferx, akacg, Paperboy, mr_carl, gpepper: and of course, thank you sooo much for ur comments that pushes me forward to finish this piece! I really appreciate it!
01 January 2010, 11:10 AM
Coming along GREAT! I cannot expect anything less from you after checking your work on your blog. Insanely great artwork man. Congrats and good luck!
01 January 2010, 02:39 PM
Fantastic work so far! I will just sit back and enjoy the ride from now :)
01 January 2010, 08:47 PM
A couple of new characters added.. this will be a whole parade of zombie/monster circus freaks :)
01 January 2010, 08:49 PM
hm... it is getting flatter and flatter.. maybe I should stop adding new stuff in and take some of them out after all :/ Need to oversleep it. And go back and work on those paid projects that r waiting :)
01 January 2010, 10:20 PM
Long time no see, How r u? Great work as always.... scarey!!
01 January 2010, 01:57 AM
I love how you have progressed. My 2 cents:
gypsy crystal ball is cool but distracting so close to that skull...looks like wolfboy is staring at clowns back...maybe lose wolfboy and put gypsy in his place... and make the elephant's tusks be on fire! yeah!
whatever you do, finish :)
01 January 2010, 10:53 AM
jojo the dog faced boy went for a snack... :) I replaced him with the gypsy lady and instead of her, the hand is back.. I hope the image doesnt look that flat anymore.
thnx to harmless and Kaja for very useful suggestions!
01 January 2010, 10:56 AM
Antropus: Thank you so much! I hope this one wont disappoint you.. if I'll manage to finish it of course :)
Gunilla: enjoy :D and thank you!
element5: hi buddy! so good to see u too :D will u join and participate in this challenge as well?
harmless: thank u for very useful advice! It looks better already :)
01 January 2010, 01:17 PM
My favourite entry so far. From your initial sketch to what you have now is really cool. I agree with the changes that you have made, sometimes too much going on can upset the balance but I think what you have now sits really well. I love the clown, looking forward to seeing more.
01 January 2010, 04:11 PM
I too agree with what's been said. Losing wolfboy was definately a good choice... and I'm absoloutely loving the "army" of critters appearing in the distance. That top hat gets my imagination going just as much as the clown at the foreground.
Awesome characters and awesome feel of the piece. Keep up the good work! :buttrock:
01 January 2010, 05:34 PM
I've got nothing to crit, but wanted to drop by and say how amazing this painting is getting. I love this entry it's fantastic. Keep up the great work, and I hope you get a chance to finish it despite real life work.
01 January 2010, 10:28 PM
that is my favourite great work , amazing colors .good luck
01 January 2010, 02:44 PM
02 February 2010, 09:38 AM
This is looking amazing
If you'll manage to finish it? are you kidding. Fix the babe and maybe also the shifty shadows and you could technically call it done :o
I kinda like the somewhat "sloppy" impressionistic look it has now :)
02 February 2010, 10:25 AM
Wondafoo!! YOU ARE MY HERO MAN! :buttrock:
Fantastic palette...twisted character...and great composition! Ya'rock!
02 February 2010, 10:59 AM
wow, looks great, I really like the composition of the piece and the clown is looking really evil :) Waiting to see the background develop. :buttrock:
02 February 2010, 05:10 PM
Thats an excellent painting, and you can never go too far wrong with an undead elephant!
Only crit I've got is that the skull juggling ball that is just next to the jugglers hand doesn't read that well - it looks a bit like another monster sticking its head out from behind the juggler instead.
02 February 2010, 05:38 PM
something was bothering me and cardigan just made me realize it---he's right...the skull doesn't read correctly. I think it is because that clown has a very detailed face with a very blurry shoulder, a blurry hand closer to the camera with a detailed skull....it's exactly the opposite of what it should be! Either the face, shoulder, skull, and hand have to be in focus...or the hand/skull is blurry and the shoulder/face is sharp. That should fix the issue cardigan brings up!
I still love this piece. Rock it out.
02 February 2010, 06:04 PM
can't get enough of this pic. Characters look awesome and the quality is unbelievavle ^^
02 February 2010, 09:13 PM
I Like the first version, when the zombie clow dont look to the camera.
the paint is very fine.
02 February 2010, 11:22 PM
Hey amazing image! checked out your portfolio and you have amazing work all around.
I'm confused about the hand below the skull though, is it just a floating hand? looks like it's attached to the two headed monster but at the same time it doesnt.
02 February 2010, 11:01 AM
madbot: I am sure honored to hear that! Sometimes its hard to see how much is enough and when there is too much going on.. so Im really glad to have u guys who direct me when Im stuck :) thnx!
andrewpyott: thank you! Im really happy to hear that characters are driving u into the image! I hope I'll manage to keep that up :)
RageOfAges: thank you for the support! I also hope I'll be able to finish this piece, since the projects are constantly droping in.. but that is a good thing as well ;)
davinci247: thnx! So glad to hear that!
FranciscoAlvarezDelgado: thank you!
LadyMedusa: hehehe... Maybe I am a bit too hard on myself, but thats keep me going ;) I'll do my best to finish it, not like I "did" the previous couple of challenges.. I wont overdo it (hopefully), there will still be visible some sloppy brush strokes and textures. But I think there is so much room for improvement and detailing on some places, that I just couldnt call it done and be happy with it :) Thnx!
OZ: thank you so much! It means really a lot to me!
iskanderMellakh: thank you! I'll do my best!
cardigan: hehe.. elephant stays! :D I agree about the skull u r meantioning. I already did something about it, but havent upload the progress yet. The skulls will be "burning" so it will be clearly seen that the three of them are together, as well as a ghost effect of the flame will indicate the direction of movement. Thnx for the constructive criticism!
harmless: thank you so much for taking the time to comment! As I replied to cardigan, I too was feeling that something is not right with thee skull hanging in the middle of air. So I did some changes that will be submited very soon. Hope that will solve the problem :) Also hands and many other things will get sharper during the painting process. Right now this is just around 40-50% done image, so many elements r still in the sketchy phase. Thank you once again!
Pegahoul: thank you so much! I hope I'll be able to keep ur interest ;)
raultabajara: thank u for stopping by :) I thought that something is needed to jump into the viewers face, so thats why is change the clown.. hope u'll like it when I finish it :)
gentlykind: Thank you for pointing that out! The hand will be more clearly attached to the siamtwins sisters. At the moment its just a sketchy phase where it shows its position on the image.
02 February 2010, 01:53 PM
I think I have a near final composition and all the elements now.. From here on, there is a detailing process, that I just cant wait to start with :D Some minor changes still might come, but nothing major.
I added a curtain of the circus tent (thnx to my buddy Tomaz), so the freak army is sort of coming out. Also, the elephant is now put more into the shadow, which makes him even scarier in my humble opinion, not knowing its whole size and appearance. There r also some bats coming out and a girl in the elephants trunk is now sculpted.. maybe a scream on her face?
02 February 2010, 01:59 PM
that is just awsome
02 February 2010, 03:56 PM
Love it, gonna be following this one. Needs more gore though, some blood splatters on the curtains, elephant's trunk and something dripping out of where the twins got stabbed. Ooh a dangling eyeball would be great too!
02 February 2010, 04:25 PM
kojala: thank you!
aimanimation: awesome suggestion! how could I forgot about gore.. Im a sucker for gore movies, and somehow I forgot about that... no excuse.. me is going to do a seppuku now :D thnx buddy!
02 February 2010, 04:48 PM
Crazy Man! Craaazy!
02 February 2010, 05:36 PM
This is looking really good. I was afraid it was looking a little flat before, by looking at the thumbnail, but you definitely fixed this on the latest images. Can't wait to see it detailed!
02 February 2010, 07:46 PM
Yea i agree, it was looking flat, you seemed to have placed a little bit of life back into the image which is good to see. The curtains work a treat for the composition, I love the little touch of light being cast onto the elephant.
02 February 2010, 09:15 PM
Love it! The composition and perspective are all working really well and it turns the whole whimsical circus thing on its ear. It's whimsical, but in a creepy macabre way. Keep at it!
02 February 2010, 02:15 AM
Very cool. I also checked out your blog. Nice work! The cd with images for each track is amazing.
02 February 2010, 03:23 AM
Oh man this is getting incredible. Totally love the addition of the curtains. The only thing I'm not keen on in this update is the color of the "energy" around the globes. I think a dark smokey color would look much better as it would set a contrast, perhaps with a slight purple hue.
Anyway, awesome update, and if this isn't my favorite thread it's really close.
02 February 2010, 08:33 PM
This is insanely good. He's juggling skulls with some sort of kinetic energy...I love it!

This is starting to look really good now, i love the idea of them coming out of the tent in a zombie horde. The colour work and composition is spot on. I cant wait to see the final detail work.

it's a superb circus, awesome colors/composition/characters,...

Looks great! Really nice work! Can't wait for more.

Blaz - this is looking really fantastic! So sorry I haven't dropped in to comment yet (I've watched but not posted,) especially as you've been great about adding feedback to my thread. But anyhow:
I normally find the whole "scary clown" concept really cheesy, but in your entry I love it! It's because you didn't just make him a scary man in make up but really made the face decrepit. And that row of double teeth is awesome! I normally find curtains cheesy too, but agin, they totally work here. I love the addition of the woman in the elephant's trunk, as a screaming woman is such a B-movie poster staple (more scream on her, though!)
I'm not sure the depth is working on the 2-headed geeks' hand: The hand looks like it's closer to us than the fortune teller's head is, but it's/their body is so far behind her. It means it look like it must have an extremely long arm. Maybe it doesn't matter that much - it's a dramatic exaggeration - but just thought I'd point it out.
I love the glows on the skulls, but it takes a bit of looking to connect them to the clown and to realize he's juggling them. Maybe a bit more trail off of each one, so that the glows start forming a faint circle, would help to connect them back to the clown and what he's using them for.
Mostly the perspective makes it look like we're looking up at the scene, but the silhouetted ring-master's hat looks like we're seeing it straight on. I know he's only small and in the background, but a bit more curve to that hat-top would help.
Anyhow, great work, as usual. I'm not worried about your finishing: Your half finished stuff looks better than most peoples' completed work. Now I just need to play catch-up! Anyhow, great job so far, and thanks for the posts on my thread!

I agree with Walrus: the hand in the middle looks way too big.
I *love* the magician/ringmaster guy in the upper-left corner.
I know it is a ghoul circus but I am kinda missing some realistic human eyes in something or anything. Maybe in the skulls being juggled? Maybe they are in between the skulls being juggled (ewww!). Maybe in the elephant? Or the clown?
Great job on that frilly collar of the clown. It really has a nice thickness to it.
Looking forward to your progress!

Thank you folx for all new comments! I'm still very busy and don't have the time to work on the actual piece, but can take a couple of minutes to reply to u and thank u for all the support!
Antropus: yes, it definitely was flat and maybe still is a bit.. but I hope I'll solve that problem during the detailing process, when I'll put more focus also on the sculpting of the characters. Thnx!
LightSovereign: yea, I think that there was really to much going on on the image, so rearranging some characters definitely helped. Thank you for stopping by!
stevethomas: thank you! You should also hear the music from the album ;)
RageOfAges: thank you so much! I am not sure though, what do u mean by energy around globes? Do u mean that purple fire around the jugglers skulls? I need to work on that yea.. at the moment its a "sketch" phase for those elements, showing the movement. Maybe I'll completely change that, or maybe I'll just make it look better :) thank you for pointing it out!
walrus: hey Michael! its really not a problem being late in my thread. If anyone knows how it is being busy and occupied with tons of other stuff, its me at the moment :D Thank you so much for dropping by and taking the time to comment! Glad u like two rows of teeth on a clown, while they were created completely spontanious (as many things do in my images, hehe). And the curtains was a must I guess, to show where is this whole parade taking place.
The girl in the trunk should scream more, I agree :) And thank you for pointing out the too large hand in the middle of the image. I totally haven't noticed that, while I was too busy with the composition and giving some depth to the image. Will need to take that in consideration and come up with something to make it more believable. As well as that glowy thing around the skulls and the ringmasters hat. Thnx for pointing out those little things that I would never noticed them, but would make the whole piece a lot better!
Hehe.. I hope I'll finish it the way I imagine it :) Although it may look ok now, I would never put it in my portfolio.. and if I miss the deadline, I doubt I'll ever come back to finish it (as some previous entries that still waits for my extra time). Thank you once again and hope to see both of our pieces finished waaaaay before final deadline :D
harmless: thank you for pointing the the large hand out! As I said in walrus' reply, I would never noticed that on my own :) Human eyes would also be a nice touch, I'd definitely think of them in the detailing process. I already tried something on the clown but didn't work that well.. but there r plenty more characters :) Thank you for stopping by!
gregmcquay, helios0684, LastEmperor7, MDR, ludorami, RTjunior, tccin3d: I am really glad that u guys like the process and the image :) Will do my best to keep it that way! Thank you!

Damn! Best 2d composition I've seen on this project. Very cool characters you've created. Should be a good end result. Good luck.
02 February 2010, 04:56 PM
really cool meet. Good luck
02 February 2010, 08:10 PM
the composition and characters are just awesome and I agree with Michael about the curtains - they really add to the image. Great stuff all 'round and I sure hope that despite all the other stuff you're busy with you'll manage to finish it in time - it's brilliant :)
02 February 2010, 09:43 PM
WOW! That's just great work

I like the subject and your lighting.
02 February 2010, 04:16 PM
awesome, great style. :)
do you plan to put some trapeze or tightrope walker in?
02 February 2010, 10:59 AM
whoever thought up the idea of clowns in the first place was messed up...weird as.
its looking really good so far.
was just wondering what you had planned for the environment? or is it more of a layerd charecter poster deal?
shall keep an eye out of course :)
02 February 2010, 05:48 PM
Very cool concept, seems very energetic and the colours and atmosphere is brilliant, this caught my eye from the beginning when you first layed the basic colours and knew it would be good to follow
02 February 2010, 09:25 PM
This is my favorite entry so far. It has everything I like in it. Keep it up! The final of this is going to be my wallpaper for a long time!
02 February 2010, 09:36 PM
compliments, really inspiring work!
I like it very much.
03 March 2010, 04:07 PM
I recommend 'Arcturus - The Chaos Path' ... would fit :D
Clowns, is there anybody out there who is not afraid of clowns?
03 March 2010, 11:33 PM
i m affraid
03 March 2010, 03:20 AM
It's awesome in every way. The one and only issue that I have with it, is that it's almost too awesome to really fit the category/topic of B-Movie, which are notoriously second rate and easy to poke fun at in hindsight. I absolutely love the image.
03 March 2010, 05:47 AM
This is tasty
03 March 2010, 05:33 AM
a good practice
a collection of many classic scary figures!
but i think you can give more details to those cute guys!
03 March 2010, 05:28 PM
Man, don't tell me you didn't submit the final image
It was looking great and one of my early favorites. You vanished so I guess you got too busy with real world stuff. Anyway, great having you in this competition. Your work is amazing.
03 March 2010, 03:04 AM
this was my fav, wish you had of finished..
03 March 2010, 06:17 AM
Hey there I like the image, What happened with your final image?
03 March 2010, 08:53 AM
Hi folx! Thank you once again for all the effort u put into this thread. Unfortunately I was unable to find enough time to finish it, but it was really cool working by ur sides.. which is, after all, the main point of these challenges for me :)
As I mentioned somewhere before, real world projects took all my time, but I think it was worth it.. some really nice opportunities popped up and I just couldn't turned them down.
But there will be always another CG challenge, so cya there ;)
And big congrats to all of u who finished ur pieces, many of them are just stunning!
03 March 2010, 06:45 PM
Simply amazing! Congratulations and good luck!
