I just finished my my showreel and a little " teasersite ".
I would really appreciate some feedback on this.
Most of the stuff is from the last big project of the company I worked for ( House of Tales )
Unfortunately it will close its doors at the end of this month and i am back looking for a job :)
Anyway..thanks for any advise or feedback on the site and the reel.
I tried to keep it simple..the site has still some issues i have to fix though.
There are some lowres streams on the site but i highly recommend watching the 720p versions linked below:
And for people with less patience

Thanks for the comments!
Any thoughts on the site? I mean i know ist bad and a bit goofy but i kind of like it because of this. Its not a site to represent i freelancer... also interesting if its working for everybody...i mean technicaly

Some real nice stuff in there. The sets are dressed up with a lot of detail and everything seems to be modeled quite well, all I'd say to work on is your framing and lighting compositions as there were shots with lots to look at...but no real visual direction or light cues leading your eyes around the image.
Is the beginning stuff (the beach town) done with real time rendering or is it pre-rendered?
If it's real time, what game engine are you using to create these things?

Thanks for your feedback!
I will keep that in mind
The Problem is that most of the work is for an PointnClick Adventure.
So there are often situations where you have to be happy with a composition even if there could be a better looking one because you have get some things on the screen.. its sometimes hard to cover everything up and still have a good composition.
The Engine is a 2,5 D engine. So the stuff is prerenderd but layered very strong . So you can put animations ans stuff in the scene.

Great reel, Kareem.
I couldnīt open your reel on the site , so Iīve watched it trough Youtube. The environments are very good - I specially liked the beach/ waves, but you have a good variety overall.
My only complaint is that itīs a little long, at 3 minutes plus. Maybe you could trim it a bit here and there, and come closer to 2 minutes?
Anyway, very good work. Congrats!

Thanks ! Glad you liked it!
Yeah..the length... I already trimmed it. Before it was 4.50 . Way too long.
I think it also could be the music. Because its very slow it could become a bit boring.
I tried faster music but that didnt fit the tone of my work...
Say, did only the streams on the site not work or also the downloads?
What browser do you use? It runs perfectly for me here...

The site openned alright; the problem was the streaming. It was too slow! I waited sometime, and then I went to Youtube.
Iīm using Firefox here.

mhmh... okay, maybe its the size of the vids wich I am streaming.
LowVersion= 20MB & HighVersion= 60MB
The server is located in Germany and since your from Brazil...
Is this possible? I mean i almost cant believe that my server is so slow.
I downloaded with 1,7 mb/ sec today...

Hm, I donīt know. Your files arenīt that big...
Maybe itīs something on my side (but usually my web is fast).

Anybody with the same problems?
Or maybe someone who can watch the streams?
Please tell me ! :)

I've tried to download the reel using IDM, and got 170KB/s average, and I'm in Indonesia, it's pretty fast I think...didn't tried streaming, cause I prefer download it and play it locally.....

Thanks for the feedback !
Watched your Reel too ! The compsiting and the car stuff are really good.
The Only thing what has not the quality of the rest of your work is the living room and the outside view of this house... the modeling seems a bit too blocky to me .
So it works with the downloading. great :)
