Update on the 5th page! (

This is my latest pic, hope you'll like it :)

08-25-2003, 02:10 PM
looks awesome!
only crits are the hair is a bit symmetrical, and maybe the teddy bear's material is a bit lumpy / weird.... but textures are awesome, and I like the scene. Good work.

08-25-2003, 02:37 PM
HOLY SHIT this is awesome man!!!!

I love the quality on the face...

makes me want to cry at the same time sooo sad....

08-25-2003, 02:40 PM

I like the boots :)

08-25-2003, 02:42 PM
Great!!!! :applause:

08-25-2003, 03:20 PM
She is so cute, I wunna just hug her and save her. hehe. You did a really nice job. I think you should animate her, if you can.

08-25-2003, 03:52 PM
Love it! :buttrock:

So freaky. I like the bumps in the teddy bear. Feels like it is water logged  , in a house that is apparently in need of renovation.

Looks the style and the color palette used!

The shadow on the right bicept looks a bit sharp tho...

08-25-2003, 05:36 PM
lol, this girl is so cute and the whole scene is great.
i loving her face with her wide open beautiful eyes.

only the fur of the teddy looks some kind of a cellular texture.

08-25-2003, 06:18 PM
cool, nice job. I agree that the hair looks too symetrical, maybe making a few strands falling in front of her face would work to brak it up alittle.

08-25-2003, 06:19 PM
Excellent work!!! i really like the feel of the picture. I really like the wallpaper in the background

08-25-2003, 06:29 PM
I saw this wip before I think..u should have a closeup on the head or something because the textures are just mind blowing dude :)
its a very freaky pic overall, very nice..might be missing a butcher knife? :)

08-25-2003, 06:52 PM
Whoa! Great stuff!
Excellent mood, lighting and emotion in the scene. Like others mention, the only thing I don't like is hair which is too symmetrical. A tad off on one side would make a world of difference, as it is so close to the main focus point [the eyes].

Excellent setting. The Addams Family meets Edward Scissorhands meets Alice in Wonderland meets The Matrix [colors] :applause:

08-25-2003, 07:11 PM
:applause: :applause: :applause:
Chouette boulot! L'ambiance est remarquable! Techniquement rien à dire... Pour chipotter je dirais que le visage est trop symétrique! Mis à part çà...:buttrock:

08-25-2003, 07:36 PM
Wow , thanx for your replys guys,
I've just updated the hair and thats better :)

08-25-2003, 08:06 PM
lovin it expecially the eyeZ and the detailed wall BG!

08-25-2003, 08:37 PM
oui moi je like it mucho !!

08-25-2003, 09:15 PM
Like it but I hvae one comment the candel holders look like there gluet too the wall. there is nothing that goes in the wall a screw or somthing, it looks kinda weird

08-25-2003, 09:51 PM
Great texturing and great pic.

Wirez? :D

08-25-2003, 10:23 PM

08-26-2003, 03:36 AM
Very nice piece. Conveys a lot of emotion.

08-26-2003, 03:40 AM

Marvelous! I wonder why there's no broken glass under the shattered mirror, though...? Fantastic subtleties on the face. Wish she was a character in some creepy fun new game so I could help her out.

Great work dude - love it!

It asks the question...What is she looking at?

08-26-2003, 05:13 AM
sweet !

08-26-2003, 05:40 AM
I like this a lot. Everything is working. The modeling, the textures, the lighting, and the scene itself.
( Is she afraid of the boogie man, abusive parents, a stranger, a thunder storm, ......... best left unsaid)

Great work. :)

08-26-2003, 06:00 AM
your work on textures is admirable!
and the modeling looks good,

08-26-2003, 06:09 AM
This is like humans should look in pixar films :scream:

very nice work!

08-26-2003, 06:11 AM
This is probably one of my favorites. Congratulations, there is a mood to it that you can really feel

Ritchie Roberts

08-26-2003, 06:37 AM
Amazing!! I love it. Totally my favourite style! Excellent model, textures and mood! Keep it up!

08-26-2003, 06:39 AM
Very, very nice. Only one comment:

Currently her hair is dark and the background is dark, so her shape doesn't read clearly. A touch of back-light on her ear and hair would help define the form, and seperate her from the background.

08-26-2003, 07:12 AM
damn d00d. very expressive. i would hate to see what she is looking at with the amount of fear in her eyes.

08-26-2003, 07:59 AM
looks alot like the game art from American McGees Alice... always loved that horror theme made like that..

love every little detail of this image.. the boots position, the hallways, her expression and of course the colors...

awsome job .. really really awsome !

08-26-2003, 08:00 AM
Very good mood - it almost looks like a painting.

I really like this one!

08-26-2003, 08:12 AM
I like the color,it's so cool

08-26-2003, 08:34 AM
wow this looks very cool what software did you use? It looks like a lightwave render???

08-26-2003, 08:39 AM
wow, cool... no crits from me this time, it's great!

08-26-2003, 08:40 AM
come here baby there is nothing to be afraid. come come :)

nice work, nice platform..

08-26-2003, 08:47 AM
:applause: Very excellent work. A rare 3D

08-26-2003, 09:07 AM
Absolute great capture of light and atmosphere ;):applause:

08-26-2003, 09:24 AM
hey, congrats!! really great picture. i totally agree with the others:
style, compositing, mood, everything's wonderful.
but i have one crit: the material on the bear (especially the head).
if the bear wasn't in the focus, so close to her face, i didn't mind, but it is. the material is the only thing that doesn't fit. it looks like on of the basic-lightwave-fractal-textures (that's why i thought it was lightwave, too). was it crumple? and if you dind't put as much effort as in the rest of the picture.
i really don't want to run you down, because i really love this picture.

08-26-2003, 09:36 AM
Wow, very nice one :)

I´m just astonished that she can actually stand and walk with such a huge head ;)

There could be sth like a little hint what she is afraid of. A reflection in a broken mirror or glass - maybe even in her eyes (for a high-res picture) or sth like a shadow on the wall... something that you don´t recognize immediately but after really studying the picture...

Anyway: It´s phantastic and btw. I love the bear with the material, I like it :)

5 Stars from me :)

08-26-2003, 11:17 AM
 i feel bad for her....

nice scene tho! :D

08-26-2003, 12:00 PM
ça déchire Reiv!!! (it kicks ass :) )

08-26-2003, 12:28 PM
one of the best scenes i have ever seen!!!!
no coments!

08-26-2003, 12:49 PM
It has a great emotional impact as a theme, and the texturing of course is awesome. Congratulations!
Looking forward to see more of this. (i hope it will not stay still, will it?)

08-26-2003, 01:43 PM
Man! Just one thing to say...

08-26-2003, 02:57 PM
Looks great. But teddies fur... It looks weird like circular mutation.

sweet mother of jebus! That is some nice work...

Read many slave labor comics?

That kind of work is depressive and an inspiration. Depressive cause we have a long way to reach you, and it´s an inspiration for obvious reasons.

Nice crits would be that usually under wallpaper it's not brick...but instead drywall. Maybe if you just replaced that with some water stained looking drywall it might be a bit better...but it's so small that it might not matter at all. Also, I thought the shoulders on the girl might be a bit too broad. All-in-all it's a great image....and i'm just nitpicking. Nice work:)

08-26-2003, 06:56 PM
a really nice peace of work mate :)
i love the style of it, it makes me feel the girls sadness somehow :/

really really nice, no critz.. i like the bump on the teddy as it is:)

08-26-2003, 07:18 PM
J'adore le regard innocent de cette petite fille.

I love the innocence in her eyes!!

08-26-2003, 08:00 PM
Not to be redundant but... Great work and atmosphere. Maybe she is watching the news of the Disney/Pixar split on her 12" b&w t.v. Nice job.

08-26-2003, 09:35 PM
Nice. Reminds me of Elm St. It captures a moment of horror. The mood is set as your creative darkness surrounds. Me like. :D

Great lighting dude..and great mood...
Reminds of a movie I saw with a friend long time ago.
kind of eerie..

That's the WRONG door, Alice... You shouldn't have opened THAT door...

Really awesome pic, the teddy would look better with another texture thou. Something like rough canvas, perhaps. I think it'd look real nice with a few loose, thick furstrands, maybe a bit ripped too.

This pic could be the mother of all things good and creepy, with a little work.:buttrock:

08-27-2003, 01:22 AM
Awesome! :buttrock:

08-27-2003, 01:27 AM
I just checked out your site. All your work is just mouth wateringly amazing. Everything you have done just seems to have so much feeling in it. This one especially. I have made it my background for my computer! :applause:

Ninja Scroll
08-27-2003, 02:45 AM
PERFECT...!!!!! :applause:

08-27-2003, 07:25 AM
Cool picture.... I'd be interested to see what would happen to the pic mood wise if you had the camera looking down onto her face rather than upwards. Typically the upshot such as this is used for making te subject look more intimidating and large (which isnt the case.... is it??). If you had the camera higher, looking down it would make her look even more alone and frightened. especially if you used a wider angle lense too it would make her look a lot more isolated and afraid. But hey your the artist on this one and its already fantastic and i might be interfering with your vision.

Bang up job.

08-27-2003, 10:33 AM
I like very much this picture ambiance but the character seems to have too big shoulders ... It may intensify the naive aspect of this children if only they was little shorter. You may check her right shoulder because it pass through the dress probably due to the skinning. But up to this two points, great work:thumbsup:
Keep it !!!!

08-27-2003, 01:32 PM
wow 5 pages of comments! really thanx guys!
I'm preparing an update for the teddy ( old teddy losing his fur) and other little stuffs.
Thanks again

08-27-2003, 02:52 PM
Here it is!

08-27-2003, 03:03 PM
man.. perfect!!!
only one thing..
dont you think that the "bear´s skin" is too sharp in some parts?
so nice man... so nice!

08-27-2003, 04:54 PM
YES! you nailed the teddy and the shadows! A few shards of glass under the mirror, and it's PERFECT!

I've almost got a tear in my eye..

08-27-2003, 05:08 PM
Much better :>

08-27-2003, 07:24 PM
Very nice......I like it a lot. You do some really good work!

08-27-2003, 11:46 PM
Wow! Very cool work man. The girl and bear look great. The textures are really cool.. like the dirty, ragged dress and nappy bear hair. I love it.. has a eeerily but cute feel to it.

08-29-2003, 06:23 AM
Hey, you always hane good work, man.

08-29-2003, 08:28 AM
i feel so scared

nice work:thumbsup:

09-02-2003, 01:53 AM
Absolutely love it, the subject, the textures and of course to mood :) only thing I hope is that those aren't her lil knees showing just above the boots, cause that would throw her proportions out of whack, I'm hoping it's like her stockings or something :)

Great style and work here, I absolutely love the first pic (although the pose is neutral) but the Mech pilot gets all the props here :) very nice. I'll add those to the gallery.

You have received the CGtalk choice award .Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! Nice work!

Great!! My only comment would be to put the poor girl against the wall, because that would make her look more fragile.

Keep it up!

Great mood to the scene.

You are a master.

09-07-2003, 06:36 PM
It's a really expressive image.
The bear it's really better on the updated image. It reinforce the feeling of the scene.Well, I think you've put a specially care on the details for get it.
There is something very moving on this picture.

If you haven't already, you've got to see his website. The work there is just of another level, not only in technical mastery but in artistic brilliance. Just some stunning images there, and all of them worthy of him making a very large salary for his talents. Jeez, he gets a few constructive crits on this image and bangs out the perfect render, including the fixes, of an image that was already waaay above alot of the work displayed here and elsewhere!

Bravo, reiv...This is the style I've been hoping/trying to achieve since I got into 3D, and you've nailed it spot-on, the texturing, lighting, mood......All say so much for a still image. You can see her fear, feel her fear, and you just wonder what the hell is she staring at that scares her so much? That is superb art. I would be proud to produce something with half the mood/ambiance that this has.

I'll stop gushing now...

09-08-2003, 05:25 AM
Not much to say but... i'll try to say something: It's pretty beautiful! Everything it's just perfect. :buttrock:

09-08-2003, 07:37 PM
riev u r simply astonishing .
that girl is haunting me

10-25-2003, 12:50 AM
But a little bit creepy, the only thing i don't come to like is the space betwen the eyes

10-25-2003, 02:17 AM
i have seen this image many time and every time i see it i love it more and more the whole atmosphere is amazing and original,,the look on her face too,,its one of my top 3 pic on this web site,,great stuff..

10-25-2003, 03:00 AM
i think i speak for everyone when i say....

WIRES please!

10-25-2003, 04:39 AM
awesome image. The only thing I can say is that the bows in her hair might be a bit symetrical and her shoulders are very broad for a little girl.

10-31-2003, 06:47 AM

10-31-2003, 09:42 PM
The catchlight in the eyes are amazing... and, like's been said already, the textures are top notch. *OUCH*.. think I got a splinter!

11-01-2003, 09:59 AM
 wow! the wall on the both side is so cool!
how can you build this model?

11-02-2003, 01:21 AM
I....I dont know what to say about that, creepy? Yeah, Creepy but cool.
