View Full Version : Maya Help! Basic Modeling! Don't know where to start?

Hey! If you know to solution to this, please help. I've tried everywhere! I need to create a 3d logo embedded into a plane in Maya, just like the picture bellow. The problem is, I don't know where to start! I have a nurbs curve of the logo, if that helps.

I've tried using displacement maps but they're too low quality. Any suggestions?

Do you have to use maya as the program? You could create a brush out of the logo in photoshop or whatever, use the brush in zbrush on a plane of geo, that should create the logo imbedded on a plane, export the plane of geo back into maya.

You could try this plug-in for displacements.

Do you need to smooth the mesh after youve created the indent? Booleans could maybe do it, but would create very ugly mesh.

Are you creating a 32bit floating point displacement map?

Do you have access to Renderman for Maya? This can be done with CSG or Displacement quite easily if you do.
