I havent really used xsi. Did u just use the default renderer that it comes with? or was it a rendering plugin -mental ray, something like that??

awesome job, very cool. How long did it take you to work with the spider animation. Getting the leg movements right? Did you watch a lot of film on spider moves?

Animation is fantastic!

quite realistic, cool !

Thank you guys.
To Justang> I've used the mental ray as it's the default renderer in xsi. No other plugins used.
To CinematicFusion > The animation itself was done in MotionBuilder and took about 20 hours to finish. I'm a big fan of video reference but in this case it's not as necessary as in human animation. Our eye is not so trained to see the mistakes in spider movement so you just need to follow simple rules while animating and avoid two legs to go at the same time and then the animation will be pretty decent ;)

So would you say motionbuilder is worth learning if you have an opportunity to check it out?

That's perfect man! :D
great job!

Wow this was amazing. Really really great animation. Looked very dynamic and slick!
Great scene setup too. Good lighting and great Textures and Shaders!

Keep it up!

Nice work, i'm curious, did you have a special rig for this? I saw one posted not long ago that had the legs automated an such, just wondering if you did something similar or if you handkeyed it all. Good work!!!

12-22-2009, 03:46 PM
That's fricnking awesome, great work. U really know some rigging ;)

12-22-2009, 05:48 PM
Thank you again guys.I'm glad that you like it ;)

To CinematicFusion > I'm using MB just because it's really fast and comfort for me. Ofcourse it's good to check it out if you have that opportunity, but i think it doesn't matter where you're animating. Most important thing is, which software meets your requirements and which one you like to work with.(imho)

To Remi > It's all handkeyed. Rig contains just IK legs.

nice work, very realistic. I like how you even gave the spider some character. instead of just a walk cycle you had him feel the rock and then climb over it. You sold the realism the whole time, good job.
