Not trying to be funny, but what is a lut? And how is it used, in a practical sense, in the production pipeline?

I might be wrong but mainly they are used to establish unity between devices of non-matching colorspaces, and to ensure an established color space through out a workflow/pipeline. But go read for yourself. AM just a noob.
