a few days a friend asked me if it would be possible to create a script that can "replace" all lights in a scene with polygons. Also, the polygons should have the same rotation and size (specially arealights). He needed to export 300+ lights to maxwell, so doing this manually would take very much time.
I have now finished the first version of the script. You can download it for free here:
One tip: After you have "replaced" all lights with polys, you can use my scene2modeler script to send all the polys to modeler to save them as one object.
Please test it and let me know if you have ideas for improvements or ideas for other useful lscripts.
