View Full Version : Exporting normal maps- ZMapper vs direct export

This is a query of a ZBrush-Maya workflow. I used Maya 2008 and ZBrush 3.1 for the project. The normal maps I've often directly exported ("Create Normal Map" from the Normal Map palette) from ZBrush don't give very satisfactory results- they're blurry, jagged at times, and very often, weak- they don't look as intense as they did when seen in ZBrush. Some experts suggested exporting the normals in ZMapper, but I'd like to know if there's a better way to export normal maps directly.

in ZBrush 3.1, no, you will get the best normal maps with ZMapper.
