View Full Version : Compositing a luminance depth pass in nuke

When shuffling the colors of my luminance depth pass and attaching it to a zblur node how do I go about applying the output of the zblur node back over the original image so that I get some kind of depth of field? Do I have to combine the output of the zblur node over my original beauty pass?

you shuffle your luminance pass in the "depth" slot of your footage, and then you add your zblur node to your shuffle node (or anywhere else down the line). in your zdepth node you choose (if not already by default for some reason) to use your depth pass for zdepth

So, therefore you're saying the shuffle copy node is what I need to use to put the output of the zblur back into the depth slot of my original footage?

no, you have to copy/shuffle copy your luma z pass into the depth channel before you apply the zblur.
