View Full Version : Head Modeling video

11 November 2009, 12:18 PM
Hi everyone! (

This video is the first part of a quick cartoon head modeling I made for the school where I teach.

Its a bit more of an hour work compressed on 6 minutes, more or less.
I used a design made by myself for this model.

On the second part I will model the ears, teeth, eyes and final details.

I hope you like it and it helps the beginners to see something usefull.

Very Interesting Video. I've never seen that approach to modeling. My only complaint is that it could be slowed down. Some parts made my dizzy and it was impossible to make out.

Thanks for your comments :)

I started using this technique some years ago, trying to go directly to the final model instead start from a box or something simmilar.
I find it really usefull when you have a good reference and the model already on your mind, because you save a lot of time doing it.

Anyway, for simpler models or when i have poor references (or no ones) I keep using the box modeling to be able to see the volume from the beginning.

I will try to do the second part soon, finishing the ears, teeth and final details.

My idea is keep doing videos of the whole character, but little by little on my freetime :)

Thanks again and I hope it helps to anyone.

Very interesting video. Thank you.

Like Zmann89 said, I would definitely have liked to see some of the more complex parts slowed down so I could better comprehend your workflow.

Looking forward to the next video(s).
